Perhaps the nicest restaurant we experienced (close with Town Hill Bistro) and we thought food, portions, service, and view were great. Joe a great maitre'd and May Ellen great server who educated about food, area and hotel history. Would highly recommend.

I am from Bar Harbor and went out to dinner with family that was visiting us. The food was great from the wine, appetizers, dinner and dessert. I can not forget the piano player...great choice of music I will be going back soon!!

Excellent breakfasts, but one evening meal did not measure up one day. Lobster was inconsistent --- some tough, rubbery pieces while some pieces were just right. I guess we should have ordered the whole thing...

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a vacation in Bar Harbor Maine. We weren't absolutely certain where our evening was going to be spent but soon settled on the Reading Room at the Bar Harbor Inn. We weren't dissapointed. We were promptly greeted by a flamboyantly dressed host with a lovely bow tie and plaid jacket. Since we love... More

The view was spectacular, the wait staff helpful and friendly. the food was to die for!!!!!!!!!!! My friend and I had the lobster pie,and every single bite had good size pieces of lobster, they didn't skimp. The clam chowder was great. desert fabulous. Just an all around great experience. This one was part of our package, can't praise it enough.

I recently ate at The Reading Room and enjoyed my meal immensely. The banana foster, in particular, is delectable. I wouldn't mind having it every day! The views are stunning, the piano elegant, and the service attentive and caring. My waiter, Sergey, could not have been better and made my time at the Reading Room all the more special. I... More

This is an elegant restaurant with an amazing ambiance. The menu is extensive but the Lobster Pie is unbelievable! No vegetables IN the pie although a good variety is served as a side, but forget what you think of when you think pot pie. The chunks of lobster FILL the dish & the sauce is delicious without being heavy. the... More

The restaurant in my opinion was very dated and whilst the overall quality of the food was ok the decor, atmosphere and service let it down. It's trying to be fine dining but falls short. We were the only couple under 60 and whilst our visit to Bar Habour has been fantastic and views from the restaurant were great, I... More

I felt like I was in a movie (we saw "Gatsby" last week)! Maybe it was the gentleman playing the baby grand piano that did it... The menu choices included an amuse-bouche and an intermezzo and were paired with a suggested wine available by the glass. I'm still dreaming about the Spinach Artichoke Soup and the Lobster Pie! Thanks to... More
