Bev Gannon's upcountry restaurant is well known and deservedly so. She has inventive island dishes and good drinks. The service is good. Naturally, the prices are not cheap. Also, the restaurant is isolated up country. But it's worth the trip.

We stopped here at the recommendation of some friends and after a day on the volcano. The food was fantastic and service was excellent. A must stop if in Maui.

Our second time at the General Store in Upcountry and it did not disappoint. Wonderful preparations of seafood (the onaga was outstanding) along with the kalua pork enchilada pie with mole. Very unusual creations from the chefs. Don't miss it. Check out the artwork around the restaurant. Well worth the drive and away from the tourist traps on Maui.

We learned of the restaurant from some local residents in Makawho. Excellent meal with wine and festive atmosphere. Service was spot on and the entire experience was awesome. Definitely will return during our future annual visits to Maui!

You can't go wrong here. Fish, meats, salads all robustly satisfying, yet with subtle flavor accents. Leave room for dessert!
