I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews on here, I have been going to this restaurant for 20+ years and can only remember 1 bad expierence (the regular cook was sick and the person filling in was clueless). Any other time we've never had to wait more than 10 min, if even. This is a supper club, not McDonald's... More

Nothing fancy... just great food with good service. Limited menu (steaks are specialty), all of which is cooked over a charcoal fire. Salad is a wedge of iceberg lettuce with three different homemade salad dressings - best choice is to mix them together. Starch is only baked potato but their special cottage cheese topping makes the potato! Oh yes, there... More

The menue is a limited but, you should pick what you do best and concentrate on doing it well. Precisely what is done at the White Stag! Love the wedge of iceburg wth the three fresh homemade and blendable salad dressings. Not sure which one I love best....Top it with the crumbled blue cheese and it is a refreshing salad... More

Order your steak less well done than you would ordinarily. Atmosphere is wonderful. Service was good.

Visited in June. As I have stated in many of my other reviews, an experience can vary by day, and maybe we just went on the wrong day. The menu is small and the service was so slow that it took forever to get our food. When it did arrive, it was a major disappointment. I ate a couple of... More

it's the first place I want to dine when in town! The grilled shrimp at the best and it is known for it's unique salad!

We have a second home in Eagle River which is the next town north of the White Stag. My husband's family has had this home for over 70 years. The White Stag has always been there. The food, service and owners have always been fantastic. We went there the first week in January. We both had the steak enbrochette, our... More

The White Stag Inn just north of Rhinelander is well worth the drive. Sitting in pristine semi-countryside it has abundant parking (believe it or not) and rustic appeal. The food and dring have always been more than just good and the staff everfriendly. Don't be too surprised when you get your "salad" which consists of one quarter head of lettuce... More

I have been eating at the White Stag since I was a little girl but hadn't been back for over 20 years because I live in Florida. We were pleasantly surprised to find the same excellent quality of food and service that I remembered. I had the shrimp brochette which was huge and delicious while my husband had a strip... More

As other reviewers have pointed out, the menu is quite simple. The salad is a properly cold, crisp quarter head of iceberg lettuce served with selection of three homemade dressings, all of which are excellent! We were offered more salad by our server. The dinner rolls are especially tasty. A baked potato is "standard" but the cottage cheese with chives... More
