Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This cozy little place is a tucked away gem. So much better than predictable chain restaurant food. The menu varies from day to day and all is made from scratch right there on the premises. It's like eating in a Hungarian/German home. The waitress took...the time to educate us on what the dishes were made of. If you like eastern European food, you will love this quaint spot.More

Lunch for three. We covered the day’s menu between us. The chilled fruit soup was excellent. The other was pretty good also, the Lecho one ordered was preferred by another, the stuffed cabbage changed hands and the Hunters Meatballs were slightly disappointing due to lack...of flavor. The wait person was very knowledgeable and provided great service.More

My husband and I live in California, but come to Seattle and Whidbey Island often to visit relatives. This restaurant is a must-stop-by for us. We love the lecho, the stuffed cabbage, the cucumber salad, -everything. I wish we had this restaurant close to where...we live.. It reminds us of the wonderful small restaurants in Austria and Hungary...More

A co-worker and I decided to try something different for lunch and decided to check out this restaurant, which is a small, cozy place tucked in a strip mall. What a great choice! The food is prepared fresh daily, and is home-made, even the sauerkraut....There are two ladies that run the place, one is the hostess, and the other is the chef, who is Hungarian, so the recipes are authentic. Our hostess was very friendly and explained the menu items, which are featured on a blackboard on the wall. The menu features a nice selection of Hungarian and some German dishes. I had the green bean soup and the beef goulash with spaetzle. The soup had a bit of spice, and was filled with green beans. The goulash and spaetzle was excellent, the flavor was great, and the portions were substantial. My colleague had the jaegerschnitzel. Being of German descent, he has had plenty, and he said the flavor was excellent. They have some absolutely wonderful pastries and cakes in the glass counter case, but unfortunately we didn't have time to try any. I'm looking forward to going back and sampling those in the future. The prices were modest, considering the quality and quantity of food. If you want to try Eastern European cuisine, this is the place!More

Well, today's lunch was not a good experience. The "chicken noodle" soup didn't have any noodles, the cabbage roll was not hot and didn't have much flavor, the "pan fried" potatoes that came with it were soggy and also didn't have much flavor. The bread...that was served first was the best part of our meals.Hopefully other days the food is better. Its name says that it is a "Hungarian" restaurant, many interesting photos on the wall. Loved the mural on the wall. We were shocked at the prices when we got the bill - we could have had a better meal at McDonalds for half the price.More

If you're like me and you love the food in almost any European country yet, like me, you HATE the airport culture and the seat time on that flight, this is the restaurant for you. Set in an unassuming strip mall, Budapest Bistro has a...very limited menu but everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. My choice, cabbage roll, was excellent as were the sides. My wife had the weinerschnitzel (spelling!) and an incredible salad with a dressing even I liked. Desserts galore and German beer in bottles. I'll be back but without a boarding pass.More

We had dinner and the food was the best home style meal anyone can hope for. We had cabbage roll, chicken paprikash, and goulash soup. And more. The reason for the three stars and not five has to do with poor service. Our waitress was...very nice and tried to be helpful. But she ended up rushing everything, such as offering dessert even before we finished entree. She cleared food that we intended to take home without asking.More

I was exploring the restaurants around my new job and saw the big “Schnitzel” sign outside Budapest Bistro. German and European food is hard to find so was super pleased. I knew it was going to be good when I entered the restaurant. The inside...was very homey and I was greeted immediately. The menu changes daily and everything is made fresh. I had the Jagerschnitzel was divine! I had it with the spaetzle and cucumber salad. Simply amazing! They even make their drinks fresh- I had pomegranate ice tea. I could not pass us desert- I had a piece of chocolate cake that had the perfect taste- not overly sweet and great texture. I will definitely be eating here pretty regularly going forward. I spoke with Elizabeth for a bit. She is passionate about her food and it shows.More

Chose to try something new wanting German food, we were thrilled to come across Budapest Bistro. The food is AMAZING, thoughtfully prepared by the self taught chef/proprietor, homemade, delicious, served in a casual, comforting atmosphere...a true bistro. We were filled to the brim, portions are...favorable, with a wide variety to choose from, and we wanted more...but not having any more room in our stomachs, we opted to take home dessert for later. Highly recommend. No need to go over the mountains to Leavenworth...next time just head up to Budapest Bistro! Tell the chef/proprietor to please share her personal story with you on how she first learned to cook...starting at age 10 while living with her grandparents-what a success story!More

It's a bit out of reach, as it is in the Albertson's shopping center, but we always know where to get good food. Chicken Ragu and Beef Stroganoff were good, as sides we chose the Frankfurter Soup and German Potato salad. Rice and Spätzle were...the hot sides. So tempted to have some of their delicious looking deserts, but that'll have to be some other time. We were there for lunch, but dinner is also available. Wine and beer are available, as well as other soft drinks. Lots of parking.More

Wonderful homemade Hungarian and some German dishes that are just like my grandma used to make. Everything we had was fantastic and the portions were just right. I had the stuffed cabbage rolls and they were so tasty I wanted more. The menu changes daily...so call ahead. Wine and beer served only. The homemade desserts such as the strudel and cakes are a great ending to a good meal. Koszonom szepan to the owner/chef.More

After living 20+ years in the US (MN, NJ and now WA), this is the first truly European small restaurant I have found yet. It's a time and distance machine. When crossing the front door you are transported 6,000 miles to old Europe. No frills,...all flavor and smells. If you like this kind of places, it's a great experience you will want to repeat once and again.... Long live Elizabeth for setting up this place and for taking care of the food and the ambience, not only for the regional Hungarian/Austrian/German community, but for us, the rest of earthly creatures around. And, by the way, one extra perk was the kind server. Sweeter than what one normally finds in old Europe....More

We discovered this restaurant while looking of the UPS Store to drop off a package. In between a Thai place on one side and an East Indian place on the other Budapest Bistro offers a variety of German and Hungarian dishes. Elizabeth runs the kitchen...and one very busy (and sweet) young woman runs the front of the place. The chairs and tables are rather tightly packed into the strip-mall sized space which makes it a bit difficult to get around. There is not really a menu so much as a blackboard on which the soups, salads, mains and desserts of the day are listed. We were sad that she had run out of the spaetzle but the parsley potatoes they offered us as a substitute were very good. What a surprise to find a place like this in little old Mukilteo. We will definitely return.More
