It starts with a 'meat sandwich' aka two slices of bacon, atop Virginia ham and one sausage patty nestled comfortably between the two cuts of delicious pork. (I am 100% sure we were all pork sausage too). Three egged cooked to your liking, grits(so good one they are buttered and peppered) and two of their signature flat biscuits. I should... More

Had breakfast here this morning. Four of us had Virginia ham and eggs. The other had poached eggs and grits. Two of us shared a blueberry pancake which was a good sized pancake cut in half and filled with blueberry filling. It was total Yum! The biscuits are thin rectangles designed to be perfect with a slice of ham on... More

My family had mixed reactions to the food here. I liked the ham biscuits and brunswick stew I had. I frequently find Virginia ham too salty but the biscuits and ham were very good as was the stew. My wife didn't like the chicken dumplings at all. She thought the broth was from a jar. The pies were quite good.... More

Very disappointed. Ate breakfast here. Could NOT eat the ham. It was very salty, but more than that, it was overcooked and thin and reminded me of a piece of leather. Coffee not good. My eggs were runny white and fried too fast. They were lacy around the edges. The "biscuits" were flat squares, but were okay with butter and... More

My husband and boys liked the food, me-not so much except for the pie. Wait staff was pleasant. There was a shop with some fun items to look at while waiting for our table. Would not return though.

I cannot believe all of the positive comments about breakfast. We found the food to be mediocre and the waitress abrupt. The man serving beverages was quite friendly however as were the people up front. The store was much nicer than anticipated. I would return to shop but not eat.

We're at this restaurant right now. Two of us got the chicken and dumplings, two got Miss Melinda's special. HEAVEN! And the service is so personable. Just tried all the pies and I like, in order, coconut, chocolate, buttermilk, then apple. Definitely a do over!!!

Good restaurant if you like southern home cooking. My husband and daughter had enormous servings of chicken and dumplings that they really liked. We tried a sample of the Brunswick Stew, but it was really more like a vegetable soup and not like the stew we are used to. We saw people from college students to older people enjoying their... More

The layout is really nice. The ham biscuits and apple pie were YUMMY. I did not like the bruiswick stew. Things really went downhill at the end of my meal, when I saw a cat in the restaurant. Yes, a CAT!!! I love cats. I love all animals!!!! But, not around my food. All thumbs down!!! Needless to say, had... More

I have been coming to the Old Chickahominy House since I was a little girl. Not much has changed over the years, and that is a good thing. The food remains outstanding as does the excellent staff. It is alwasy full so making a reservation is suggested if you are a large group. However, if you don't call ahead you... More
