One of the better choices downtown for dinner. We were there recently and found the service good and the meal mostly good with a few exceptions. The fried oyster appetizer was terrific as usual, and the fried calamari was also tasty. The crab cakes were large and enjoyed, but did not need to be literally smothered in mustard sauce. The... My husband and I have been to The 219 for a drink before dinner before and enjoyed the atmosphere. Nothing really special, just an easy place to get a glass of wine or beer. I'm not crazy about the bowl of nuts they offered (who eats those?), but it's comfortable. We decided to eat there this past Valentine's Day. My... More

I just left this establishment and was overwhelmingly disappointed. I ordered the steak and fries (medium). Well, that seemed to be difficult for them because the first time it came out it was medium well to well done. Then, I received my meal again and it was rare (really raw). I asked them to send it back and put the... More

219 is just a short walk from the Wisconsin Battleship and a good option in Norfolk near the Convention Center. Nothing spectacular but attentive friendly staff ( our waitress was expecting her first baby the next week). Varied menu . The Seafood Platter(flounder, shrimp, crab cake and scallops ) proportions were generous.

Returning from the Beach on a recent Sunday my wife and I decided to stop in the MacArthur Center area of Norfolk for lunch. We parked right beside the 219 Bistro, saw their lunch special sign out front and went in. What a great decision. First, what is not to like about a Bloody Mary Bar where you make your... More

In spite of the fact it was Restaurant week, The 219 seated us without much trouble. It's a smaller venue and the decor is nothing notable, but we went with friends, and it was a wonderful dinner. They ordered the calamari and raved about it. I ordered the fried green tomatoes with arugula. Highly recommend those although I think as... More

The food is incredible - what a pleasant surprise - and even in the Restaurant Week busy-ness. best shrimp I have had in y-e-a-r-s. Crab cakes were all crab. Our party all enjoyed and were very pleased with our selections.

When you want a good meal, ask a police officer for an opinion! They know all the good restaurants and that's how we were directed to The 219. We had wonderful dinner with great atmosphere and a very attentive staff.

We had lunch there during restaurant week. We arrived early for our reservations, but they cheerfully gave us a table. We ordered off a special menu and chose a salad to start. We were served barely a half a cup of greens with the smallest diced tomatoes with a lemon tyme dressing. All we could taste was lemon juice sows opted... More
