We went to Cville from DC to celebrate our first anniversary since we couldn't get away. We chose to have our anniversary dinner at the ivy Inn, and it was a great choice (They knew it was our anniversary). They gave us a complimentary glass of champagne to kick off our dinner and had special menus drawn up that we... More

Superb food artfully presented. We dinned on a Monday evening and there was a large group occupying the entire ground floor so we had to go up a steep flight of stairs to the second floor. Our service alternated between two different servers, one very good and the other fair. Perhaps the big group on the ground floor was overwhelming... More

The Inn is in a very old building (well over 150 years or so) but well maintained. The atmosphere and service are must of what it was like back in the 1800s. The food is probably the best you will find in Charlottesville. I would highly recommend for a special occasion or a romantic evening. The dishes are served on... More

This restaurant remains one of the very best in Charlottesville. The food is delicious and always inventive and presented in beautiful fashion. The service is also very good and the atmosphere is pleasant. They also have a varied and reasonably priced wine list.

After reading the reviews, we reserved a table for the 2 of us. The server was Alex. We consider ourselves sophisticated diners from New York. We weren't disappointed. Cooked exactly the way it should be. Every dish was prepared beautifully and the selections/choices were more than adequate. If there was a server's school, Alex would be the teacher. He offered... I had noticed that the Ivy Inn had moved to #1 in TripAdvisor's Charlottesville restaurants. I have always liked it, but had not been there for a year or so and thought it was worth a visit. I was not disappointed. Food was excellent and the staff could not have been nicer. The salad, salmon, and every dish was perfectly... More

It's obvious why the Ivy has been on top in Charlottesville for so long. We were greeted warmly, and had excellent service throughout the evening. The atmosphere is comfortable without being stuffy. Every dish was extremely tasty and nicely presented. My mushroom appetizer, and wife's grilled trout were the stars of the meal. Each plate had wonderful balance between the... More

My wife and I were looking forward to dining here after all the great reviews. But the best I can say is that it was just an average place to eat. The ambiance was missing and the waitress although very friendly lacked knowledge of wine and did not seem to be experienced enough to be working there. After our order... More

We were in town to visit Monticello and Ash-Lawn Highlands and decided to celebrate my MIL's 70th birthday here. There were six of us total, including our ten year old daughter. For starters, when I made the reservation the gentlemen on the phone asked me if there was any special occasion for the reservation and so I told him yes.... More

This was our last meal during our stay in Charlottesville, and it couldn't have provided a better ending to our visit. Dining at the Ivy Inn is an experience in haute cuisine while surrounded by the charm of an old former inn and the excellent service of a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Worth noting is the wine list with... More
