We have been to Lord Hardwicke's several times before, this was our first visit in several months. Staff had changed, and so had the food. Lunch of sandwiches and fries was mediocre at best; oo little ice in our glasses of soda and iced tea. Friendly but inexpeienced staff. One of us felt sick aftewards. There are better places for... It's not really a pub, but the food's good. We dined at Lord Hardwicke's when waylaid in Charlottesville during a snow storm. The place was empty and we were one of only three groups, which is maybe why the service was so good. The place as near as I can tell has no bar, which is weird for a "Pub,"... More

We've only been to Lord Hardwicke's once. They had a decent menu selection with lots of sandwiches, burgers and more - we loved the fish and chips. The place looks a little run down but it was fine for lunch. They gave us 4 BIG pieces of fish that had the nicest most flavorful batter that we've had in years... More

I recently went to the newer one up in Barboursville and it was just ok. The food was fine... typical bar fare. Fries were hot, salad was fresh and cold. Our waitress was totally indifferent. She didn't smile once and almost acted as if we were bothering her by being there. I won't say I'll never go back, but this... More

Hardback seats, service was slow and not at all personable, and the food was nothing to rave about. Sorry guys. You really missed the mark. More

Cold fried eggs and everything else on the plate. Butter wouldn't melt on the potatoes or toast. Was offered a new plate. 15 minutes later, still no food. It wasn't busy- only saw 2 other tables in the place. And...mine was a do-over which should put it at the top of the pile. Not here. Ended up leaving without breakfast.... More

My sister and I went there when i visited . It was a very casual place, very good for families. The menu was diverse enough and the burger had was very good. This place was reasonably priced and the service was very good. More

We went in with a group of about 20. The inside is fairly rustic but comfortable. The service was a little slow, but that's to be expected with a big group. Our group had everything from sandwiches to seafood to ribs and without exception, everyone was pleased with the quality and generous portions. The waitress was very nice and helpful.... More

We ate there on July 26, 2010. This was my fourth visit to the Ruckersville Hardwickes. The previous three times, the food was very good. This fourth ( and the last) time, the food was poorly prepared. How hard is it to cook a burger and fries ???? The bun was so dried out that it tasted like it had... More

We asked at the English Inn for a dinner recommendation and we were told Lord Hardwicke's was the place to go. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. Might be okay if you want a beer or six and like a tired, shabby ye olde sports bar type environment to eat in, but the food was very bland and very expensive. Tasteless... More
