Had the chicken fried steak for lunch and it was a huge plate of food. The history of the place is interesting. Pretty good but not great.

When stopping or driving through Waco, the Elite is the restaurant at which we enjoy eating. Through the decades they have lived up to the expectations of a fine home-style meal.
A recent lunch included fish and chips and chicken-fried chicken. All items were served near perfection with a nice selection of sides. The server was very attentive in bringing...

The Elite is a Waco landmark and it had been a few years since my last visit. There have been extensive renovations and there is great curb and eye appeal but the food just didn't survive the taste test for me. I had a sirloin medium rare with baked potato and a house salad. The steak had very little flavor...

We waited a long time to go here after it was revamped because we kept hearing bad reviews from people and friends. However, we always saw cars in the parking lot. We should have listed to our friends. The service was really poor, and the food was barely average. This could be a fun place if the management took some...

I always want to give a place (especially one with this storied past) the benefit of the doubt. However.... Our waitress was terrific and we felt sorry for her. The wait was 45 minutes for appetizers. The quality of the food was mediocre, at best. And rather than rolling up his sleeves, the manager just walked around refilling drinks.
Great Food and atmosphere. Friendly staff. Enjoyed our meal. We had the Rosemary chicken and the Ribeye. Fast service.
Wife had convinced me to try this place again. First time we tried, they started seating people ahead of us and there were no reservations. Second time, the food wasn't worth eating although the service was great. Last time I'm going back.
Remember the Elite from the 70s trek from DFW to Austin...traditional dark red and black decor. WoW! Now! The update was fabulous, decor, food, bar, everything was done right! Last visit food (CFS) service outstanding! Coldest tap Shiner I've ever had. New "favorite" restaurant!
The food is just okay but the service is slow. The new patio is nice if the weather is just right. Dim lighting and modern decor.
Elvis is now longer "in the building" but evidence of his visits decades ago are everywhere. Combine that with good food, good value, and good service and you will find the Elite is a place to revisit anytime you are in the area. My wife and I enjoy it at least once every month or two, And my grand kids...
