Louie Mueller's came highly recommended by Road Food but was a disappointment. Though staff was very friendly, the baby back ribs only rated a 5, as they were overcooked. Their beef was better, getting an 8. It was tender and juicy. Davis Grocery in Taylor has much better barbecue. More

There are better barbeque places in central Texas, Lockhart, Llano to name some. Meat tasted like it was cooked yesterday and reheated. More

Probably the best brisket I've had in Texas except for Blacks or Schoepfs. The problem I have is with the sauce. It is essentially flavored water and doesn't add anything to the meat. Purists will say you don't need sauce which was true for older generations perhaps. Sauce is mandatory these days and should be considered just as important as... More

Well worth the drive to the out of the way town of Taylor, Texas. I was in Austin for a wedding and wanted some great BBQ. Everybody there said to go to Franklin in Austin, but i didnt want to have to wait for 2-3 hours. So we heard about Louie Mueller's and went. Fantastic. We arrived shortly after the... More

Three words: Brisket! Brisket! Brisket! We stopped here for lunch on the third day of a BBQ tasting tour. We tried the “moist brisket”, pork ribs and coleslaw. We skipped on the sausage, so I can’t comment on that. The coleslaw was the right chop but lacked flavor. The ribs were okay, and just a little peppery. Now for the... More

Enjoy the ambience of this old building with it's smoky atmosphere. The portions are large so be careful what you order. The peach cobbler is wonderful as well as the brisket, sausage and what ever else you like smoked. You can tell they know what they are doing when you see the color of the Texas flag on the wall... The sausage was greasier than most sausage from other places. For the price I paid, I expected a lot better meat. The fact they don't have a meal and you have to order everything separately makes it hard to keep the price down. I spent more here than I have at other Barbecue places for the same amount of food. Third or fourth visit from Houston. Ribs were tough. Sausage horrible. Brisket has really fallen off. I think some of it was from yesterday. Not even close to prior visits. More
