I tried the pecan encrusted salmon. It was very tasty. The oatmeal molasses bread was "out of this world" delicious.
We ate at the Austin Street Bistro in Jefferson, TX last weekend, and it was really very good. The breads, all homemade by the owner, Gena, were wonderful. I must say the Chicken Primavera was very good - a little spicy, but not too much for this Louisiana girl. And one of the dessert specials for that day was a...

I really enjoyed this little restaurant and I never new it was here. I visit Jefferson every few months and have completely overlooked it. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Definitely worth a try.
Special people, special place, especially outstanding food. I have eaten things in here I wouldn't normally try (like salmon, in Texas?) even her squash-sausage soup...just because Gina made it...Yeah, the Pilgrim Sandwhich is wonderful - so is anything and everything she makes.
A lunch special is usually offered...come back for dinner, or coffee and dessert.

We were hesitant to try this cafe just because of the prices. We were so glad we didn't miss out on this extraordinary lunch!
The bread alone is worth the trip inside. Warm oatmeal molasses rolls with honey butter is a wonderful side as well as a delicious dessert. Sandwiches were fantastic and the meatloaf was spectacular.

Service to our table was immediate. We...

We ate pasta dishes, one w/shrimp, the other chicken and sausage. Both were very good as was the bread.
Great place with food cooked to order, how novel! I consider myself to be a "foodie" because I love fresh food that's not processed. Austin Street Bistro fit all my fussy requirements. Definitely will go back. Right next door to the Jefferson General Store...a must..what a cool place.
Great desserts! Nice staff. But the food was a notch below mediocre: too much pepper in otherwise bland sauces. My not-very-picky family was under impressed.
