The quality of the food varies from good to Golden Corral, but none is outstanding. Particularly I impressive we're the hard chicken fingers, mushy tater tots, and cod pizza on the buffet at dinner. My steak came warm with cold potatoes that had been on the plate long enough to form a hard crust.

Worth the drive for a special meal - beautiful view from the dining room (fireplace in the winter) or the shaded patio. Two Corvette groups - from Ft. Worth and the Granbury area- had a joint trip to Rough Creek Lodge. Beautiful drive for 40 beautiful cars. They were prepared for us with an excellent buffet for about $25 each. Staff was very helpful about letting us look around at the property - spa, guest rooms, etc.

menu simple and very different. I always like to try new food, so I ate the Elk tenderloin, very very good. And the wine list is really great. The homemade breads are amazing. You can buy loaves and take them home.

Pricey, but expected it for the 4-5 star treatment. Excellent food, but limited to your choice of certain chef selected options in their 4 course meals. Rooms were nice. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of outdoor options to spend your time. A really unique place for a romantic weekend.
