This place is very highly rated in Galveston so therefore u had to try it with a friend visiting from Dallas. We enjoyed it. The family friendliness and the quality if the food made it so enjoyable. The food was very authentic. If you are looking for a restaurant with Galveston culture and authentic Mexican food you have found the... More

My wife and I were in Galveston on May 4 for the historic homes tour. We got hungry and wanted an original Galveston restaurant. We ended up here. We are big fans of Tex-Mex. The food was average, but plentiful. The interior of the Restuarant is dull and uninspiring. The service was good but the place busy. It took a... More

My husband dined at this restaurant on the off hours. We have heard that the wait and service suffers at prime times. It was good Tex-Mex food, but the wait staff could work on their people skills. We will go there again, but not at the 12 o'clock rush.

Food is good (not great) - atmosphere is good and the food is your typical Mexican fair. Margaritas were good and happy hour made the price right!! We like the location downtown but they are very busy during the week at lunch time.

We went to this mexican cafe because of the great reviews on trip advisor. The food was good with large portions. We got there around 11:19 am the two dinning rooms were almost full...so this should say something about the quality of the food. Now to our waiter. This guy either was new or couldnt understand much English. I request... More

My husband and I ate here with my sister and her husband on a Friday evening. They were busy, but there wasn't a wait. We started with margaritas, which were very good. Chips and salsa were pretty good. I had chicken enchiladas, my husband had beef enchiladas, not sure what my sister ate, but my brother-in-law had grilled chicken....again all... More

Started with chips and queso, which were some of the best we've ever had. The thin, crisp tortilla chips were amazing, and the queso very smooth and flavorful. Happy hour margaritas were a real bargain, and the rest of the meal was very good, with plenty of food at a reasonable price. All in all, a great place to dine,... More

Many of us have great Mexican food in our home town. This is a GREAT Mexican restaurant on Galveston Island. Be sure to get there for the margarita special and order water to drink with the spicy salsa. Near the Strand.

We finished our assignment and then asked our iPhone for the "closest" Mexican food place on Galveston Island. We were directed to "The Original Mexican Cafe." The prices were moderate, and reviews were good, so we went for dinner on a Friday night. They were very busy, but we were seated withing 10-15 minutes. Our waitstaff, Aldo, greeted us and... More

Thank goodness for these reviews so we didn't miss out on a great tasting and filling meal. The menu gave a good explanation of each dish and there wasn't a spot on the plate that wasn't covered with food. The prices where fair for the amount of food also. Make sure this place is included on your trip.
