The food was good (burgers and chicken)...really good selection of local Draft and Bottled Beer. Great Hangout. A&M fans were very friendly!
An excellent hamburger and fries. Saw this place on the Texas bucket list last night and decided to check it out. Generous portions and very well prepared. The fries were crisp, the jalapenos were hot. The service was barely adequate seeing there was hardly anyone there when we arrived but when they finally waited on us the staff was very... More
6 of us went there before Alabama game. Found it to be fun, great ice cold beer, mixed drinks, and fun folks. Played a game of dominoes and pool. Not to missed when in College Station.
I suppose the Dixie Chicken is the Katz Deli of College Station: the place you have to go when you are there so you can say you have done it (and may not need to do it again). It is certainly charming in that "crazy stuff on the walls and we don't mind if you carve your name into the... More
CheeseBurger was fantastic! Get the onions grilled. Lots of memories here. Beer is not as cheap as it use to be! LOL! This place is always a must.
This was our first visit to Dixie Chicken, but it won't be our last. We knew that it was a well-loved restaurant, but didn't know anything else. We ate lunch on an August Friday before TAMU classes began. There were not many diners there when we were, so the experience will be VERY different on football weekends or during the... More
A beer joint with hamburgers and tradition. Food is exceptionally good for the situation and Northgate area. Legendary Aggie watering hole. If the crowds at Northgate are too much, go to their sister location the Chicken Oil Company in Bryan on College Avenue with easier parking.
A meal at Dixie Chicken, AKA The Bird, is a must when in College Station! It is an institution! I was immediately propelled back to my college days upon entering it's sacred halls. The music is loud and the lighting is dim; there are "dead animals" mounted on the walls and the bathrooms are small and graffiti-filled. They have a... More
This place has gained its reputation for being a hang-out for college students. The front faces University, but the parking is in the back (metered an 75 cents an hour - pay by credit card). The wooden picnic tables have years worth of carvings - hearts with initials, quippy sayings, etc. We were there for lunch in a Thursday and although... We've heard a lot of buzz about Dixie Chicken in Northgate. One person taking orders with a long line while several "workers" stood behind her talking and laughing with each other. Fajita chicken tacos were good, but the Dixie chicken strips weren't great. Dixie Chicken Northgate looks like a fun place to hang out if you're a college student.
