The big attractions here are the water views at sunset. You just can't beat that. They have a whole menu of German beer and very decent schnitzels. It's not nearly as crowded as some of the other venues on the wharf, which means you may actually have a seat to enjoy the westerly view. More

Had a dinner here based on experience in the city Bier Cafe. Loud sloppy and just not that great. More

The place was packed (it was Friday night) and staff were doing their best to keep us all happy. Prices were a bit high for the quality of the food - a very ordinary schnitzel, while my slow-cooked pork knuckle was desiccated. Silly local council regulations meant that we couldn't take our drinks outside to enjoy the magnificent view. More

Great beer options, food is tasty - a bit high priced but worth a visit. More

If you are looking for great food in a relaxed environment, friendly staff, with exceptional views, then this is it. It's not cheap, but the meals are excellent value, great portions and very well cooked. I was with 12 people and no one was disappointed. I had a delicious salt and pepper squid followed by a beautifully cooked scotch fillet.... More

Super tasty beer and cold. Sunset is the time to enjoy. Food is german... what can you say. Service is typical. If it says reserved on all the tables... ask... you can get one... just tell them you'll eat. I'll go back as part of the Sydney Ferry... excursion. More

Really had a great night with a large group of friends. All sorts of beers and wines. The food was just fantastic. The views from the wharf were great as well. Lovely clean place and the atompshere makes you feel at home. Would differently go again, Value for money and not that expensive. The staff are great as well. More

We have just returned from a 7 week tour of Europe and while there were some good restaurants, if you dont mind spending several hundred dollars for a group of 4, we did not find a fair priced restaurant in Germany which could match the Bavarian Bier Cafe, all complainers please note it is a cafe, not a Mitchellan hatted... We sat for 20 mins waiting to be served while most of the staff fussed around one table of 'beautiful people'! Noone came near us! Very disappointed as was looking forward to a meal there. More

My wife and enjoyed lunch sitting in the outdoor area of the bier cafe. The location is busy and fun. We really enjoyed the sausage tasting platter with an additional house salad. Our meal was complemented by a three beer tasting 'flight' of beers. Although not inexpensive, I felt the experience, a combination of good food and location, presented good... More
