I just realized that I am about to join a long list of non-happy customers. This places is just the worst welcome ever. They are so well located that, I think, they forgot about the legendary Highlands Hospitality or the staff working there have never heard about this famous hospitality. there is no price on anything, if you asking for... Used to be the supermarket of choice, but the restaurant never really got off the ground. Nothing on the shelves, no smiles, no ice cream. Where has it all gone ? Easily trumped by the supermarket attached to the nearby garage now. People no longer go to McVeans despite its amazing Canalside location, why ? Seems like supplies are difficult... More

Enjoyed the range of sale products available in the shop. No hard sales pitch from staff allowing customers to browse at their leisure.

I was on a day tour from Edinburgh and we made a stopover at Fort Augustus to do the Loch Ness boat tour. A bunch of us had stopped in McVeans for a coffee break - when I asked how to use the coffee machine the storekeeper flippantly said, "choose the coffee you want and press the button". It wasn't... The food and grocery store is ok but the staff are exceptionally rude. This is the third place in the highlands were rudeness seems to be the norm. There have been some really polite people but it's really hit and miss so far

Nice location shame about the service! Unbeknown to us it was self service, the woman who was working there was unfriendly and unhelpful and expected customers to know what to do. Overpriced uninspiring and unfriendly. I was ashamed to be British, glad I am not Scots would have felt even worse, goodness only knows what impression foreign visitors got.

Popped in here to have some lunch - what a mistake! Overpriced, pre-packed sandwiches on 'plastic' bread, terrible coffee and soggy empire biscuits! The staff were pleasant enough, but definitely not somewhere I'll be visiting on my next trip through Fort Augustus!
