A 60th birthday surprise gift from my husband, and what a gift! Set in a completely tranquil valley of Dartmoor near Chagford, there is nothing about Gidleigh Park that can be criticised except perhaps the slightly harrowing journey through narrow lanes to reach it. Once there, you want to stay forever. The food is sublime, the service and attention from... More

Cooking of this standard is hard to find and deserves every accolade when you're lucky enough to have the chance to eat here. Had three course dinner one night, the signature tasting menu the second night. Could not find fault with anything served to us,from the delicious homemade bread through to the work of art petit fours(the warm mini doughnuts were... More

This was our fourth visit to this establishment, so we had no problem finding this wonderful gem. Gidleigh really is a little sanctuary within a sanctuary. Chagford is wonderful for a wander so allow extra time before heading to Gidleigh. As we had our young daughter with us, we were unable to enjoy the food in the restaurant. However, we... More

Gidleigh Park has a wonderful location & atmosphere. The quality of service is second to none, but the real star is the excellent food. I cannot believe they only have 2 Michelin stars - why not the 3rd? Come on Michelin inspectors - go along and have another look - the food is superb. More

I was treated to lunch to celebrate my birthday at the end of April in one of our favourite hotels, Gidleigh Park. We only go to this superb venue on special occasions during the year & I'm pleased to say that this hotel & restaurant never fails to impress. We were greeted by the Restaurant Manager, Damien Bastiat who was... More

I absolutely agree with those reviews which recommend a lunch over a dinner service. The service is unhurried, but efficient. The lunch menu is amazing value and is no compromise in terms of choice. The pork main course that we had was quite possibly the best dish I have ever eaten.. The main advantage, however, in a lunch is that... More

This restaurant is the complete dining experience. Beautiful relaxed surroundings, immaculate service and the finest food, without doubt my favourite restaurant in the U.K. If you would prefer a less expensive sample, try the lunch, great value and the quality is maintained. More

Took my fiance for his birthday. I wouldn't go for dinner as I don't think even food this amazing is worth those prices. But lunch is cheaper and definately worth it! We had drinks on the terrace first soaking up the amazing views! The amuse bouche was incredible. The dining room is perhaps a little on the stuffy side for... More

Nothing to dislike - beautiful building with lovely grounds and lunch well worth its 2 Michelin stars. Although billed as two course lunch, we were served an amuse bouche and a complementary starter. It is definitely a venue for special occasions and special treats - but can't wait to find a suitable excuse to return! More
