So the reviews helped me make a decision to go and I was pleasantly surprised. Ribs, pork, and brisket two sides and soda $16. Everything was amazing and the people are great. I even got a warm welcome from the owner Phil. The sweet spivey sauce could have been spicer but still very good.

Had the full rack of ribs, Memphis Dry Rub. Wife had the Brisket. Tender, flavorful, and well worth stopping by for the first, but not the last, time when we visit my mother-in-law in Kingsport. Finally, I've found real BBQ in Kingsport/Johnson City. You really need to try this place.

First visit to phils. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Restaurant was nice and clean. I got brisket and pork, potato salad, slaw, and bread. It was all very good. A little pricey$14 and change but really good. Will definitely tell others to visit and come back!! Yum!!!

First time trying it, was not that great based on reviews I have read. I will go back again and give it a second time though based on the reviews. Somewhat expensive for what I got, barbecue pork plate. Not bad, but in this area, there seems not to be a great barbecue place anymore, just barbecue.

After many recommendations we tried Phil's. We did take out. We had the ribs, chicken. They were terrific. Very moist and the 2 sauces we tried were also great. The sides we had were beans, coleslaw and macaroni salad. All 3 were very good. Probably some of the best beans I have eaten. Will definitely go again.
