I have to agree with another viewer's take on the crawfish egg roll appetizer - not that they were bad, but just that they were sort of nondescript. As I mentioned to my husband, if I didn't know they contained crawfish, I would never have guessed. That said, the rest of the meal was fantastic. The beef tips in pastry... More

My husband and I decided to try Sassafras while we were in Greenville. The food was ok but I felt a little off after drinking flat ginger ale and downing one of the strange egg rolls, not to mention the waitress was stale. After paying a rather large bill for below average food, we left to go back to our... More

My Husband and I looked on Tripadvisor for a place to eat in downtown Greenville as we were traveling in the area for a wedding and decided to try Sassafras. We thouroughly enjoyed our decision! The meal was excellent and the service superb- we had a wonderful date night and would recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a great... More

The main course was very good but the starters were fantastic. The issue I had with the main course was although the sides were excellent the steak was only good. I will go here again and pick another main course and go for the starters again.

We have lived in Greenville for years but had never been to Sassafras and decided to go last week. The restaurant has been open for many years and is somewhat dated...but the food was very good. My wife tried the oyster appetizer and her comment was..."...they were wonderful." I had the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Pimento Cheese sauce was... More

Lets start with the Oysters with blue cheese. Not a hope these oysters were fresh. There seemed to be a distinct lack of blue cheese or taste of any kind. Dissapointing to say the least. The spinach salad had absolutely zero imagination. Bland and tasteless. I did not finish it. Entrees. Heres where the real disaster happened. Yellowfin Tuna Wasabi... More

Have been here often, love the pecan crusted trout. Occasionally the veggies lack seasoning, but overall its a good place to eat. Nice atmosphere.

Sassafras is my favorite place in Downtown Greenville. I come here about once every two weeks and the place is always great. The place is family owned and they treat you like your family. Mom, dad and son are all great people. When I have customers in town, this is the spot I take them. I know what I am... More

I have lived in Greenville for 18 years now, and this is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is very good, reasonably priced (about $20-$30) a person, great wine list, great service, and a fantastic atmosphere. The Shrimp and Grits are my favorite dish, however they have so many great dishes to choose from. If you go during the... More
