We stayed here twice and liked it alot.
The only main issues are the location and meals.
Location - if is a way out of town. Not very far but enough to make trips an effort.

What can you say about a place where there are no need for locks, the staff are ALL friendly and the food is fantastic? Pinetrees has been a Lord Howe institution for many decades. I spent a week at Pinetrees kayaking and fishing. Having good quality food provided made the week so much more enjoyable.
The room was just average but I would certainly stay their again just for the great meals and friendly service

food was average, portions miniscule (and we are not big eaters), service adequate. nice setting. poor value for money compared with the other restaurants we visited on Lord Howe (Pandanus, The Anchorage). Left feeling that I could've cooked much better in our apartment.
