This is my third trip. i was very disappointed in both the wine list and quality of the food. My son, partner and i all love food. We found all dishes a disappointment. The chef, who has great credentials, needs to put time into ensuring quality fromthis lovely little cafe. As it is i would go tot he competitor any... More

In the thick of things this little cafe has indoor and outdoor seating, even an air-conned room. An array of the traveller staple foods and local cuisine is well prepared and gives you a break from all the chinese fare you might have endured so far. But the crowning moment comes when dessert is due: The amandine pear tarte is... More

This cafe was our first stop in Jinghong - they booked our bus tickets for us (only 5 RMB extra charge) while we had a lovely lunch. They recommended a hotel, but it was unfortunately a bit expensive, so we ended up at the youth hostel a few doors down, which was more in our budget but still with very... More

Like most Western-style cafes in this part of China, the food is a little off, but it was nice to be able to caffeinate with some black tea with milk and get some toast with jam (though no butter) in the mornings. More

I wandered into this cafe and came across the very helpful younger co-manager. Within moments, he helped me organise a good room at a nearby hotel for an excellent price. Also found myself on a tour the following day with a pleasant Italian couple and the owner, Gregory, who took us in his 4WD towards the Burma border and to... More

This should be your first stop in town for good food, hotel info, and great trekking advice. It is owned by a French man and his Chinese wife who leads amazing treks. I would recommend the 3 day and two night minority village trek. Also free Internet with Facebook access. More

This was one of the best Western style restaurants we visited in China. The sausages were by far the best I've had in all of South East Asia (although that isn't necessarily saying much) and the condiments / portions were good. Service was a bit off, with one meal coming out ages before another, but that's better than one gettting... More

I love the Mekong Cafe. We spent a lot of time here during our week in Xishuangbanna. The owner, a French chef, is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Food is great, coffee is wonderful, internet is handy, plus they have tours you can sign up for, city maps, and lots of traveler info. Nice choice of places to dine: inside,... More
