This place is great fun. Make sure you make a reservation - and don't let the control freak of a front door bouncer dissuade you from getting in! “Great Jazz Venue!”

We went to Jimmy Mak's to see the fabulous jazz saxophonist, Devin Phillips. We made dinner reservations for 7:00 with the show starting at 8:00. The wait staff was excellent, and the food was good. But the ambiance is what it was all about, cozy with good acoustics. Amazing evening out! More

The other two reviews are valid: You go to Jimmy Mak's for the entertainment and the coktails. MY SIL had a drink with a molasses rum concoction, and it was the best drink she's ever had! The food is good but that's not why you go to Jimmy Mak's - you go there for the cocktails, great staff and the best jazz in Portland. Their old location was great but their new location across the street from the old place is very chic. More
