Everyone raves about the food, but having to deal with the abrupt service, bad attitudes, and general lack of organization doesn't make this place worth the wait.
Jade does have macarons and cupcakes (hence, the patisserie part) probably to go with its huge selection of teas, but it is the food that makes people line up at this Sellwood restaurant. Ordering is at the counter and food is brought to the nice wooden tables, which are far enough apart to be comfortable. It did not seem excessively... More
We had a late lunch at Jade. It works like this ... stand in line, order, pay, take a number to your table, wait a few minutes for your food to be delivered and eat some delicious food. They have tables outside, inside and upstairs. All of the dishes have great eye appeal as well as great taste. Inexpensive prices.... More
The Jade Teahouse has excellent food. We've eaten there several times and haven't been disappointed by the flavors or cost. It is not, however, a place for a relaxing, leisurely meal. The tables are very close together, and it is extremely noisy. Next time I think we'll try take out.
Jade is very close to where we live, so we feel very lucky. While, as many reviewers have said, it is noisy the food is great. A blend of Vietnamese, Thai and SE Asian with some lovely sweets for good measure. The food is always good, although the service can be a bit lacking if they are busy. There is... More
Jade has delicious food and interesting selections. Be forewarned that you order at the counter (usually there is a line), you're given a number, and you're dishes are delivered to your table. Water and drinks are self-served. It is absolutely worth a try. Outdoor patio seating in the summer, too!
I've been going here for years and still, there are days when I simply can't stop thinking about the food at Jade. The crispy springrolls, the vermicelli salad, the coconut soup brimming with chicken, noddles & veggies. Even the poached chicken, which might sound bland, is delicious in its savory broth. If you're daunted by the large tea selection, ask... More
Jade Bistro Teahouse is a real gem (pun intended). This place really rocks. Hidden in the Moreland neighborhood of SE Portland, Jade is not a place that I would normally think of going. A very good friend lives in the neighborhood and recommended we try it out. Oh my gosh - we have been missing out. The walk-up, order at... More
I ate here with a friend and was really pleased with the food. I had the coconut rice noodle soup. It was full of chicken and the taste was just a delicious blend of coconut, lemongrass, and hot pepper. We also shared the truffle fries and they were very good. I agree with the other reviewers that this place is... More
My wife and I are there almost every week. SE Asian inspired food that is very fresh and they also have wonderful baked goods. Sesame balls with honey and the macaroons are must haves for dessert.
