Beautiful place, and we arrived at 5, so had a fabulous draft IPA for $2.
The cantina menu offered from 4-6 looked great.
I ordered the tequila marinated skirt steak tacos, and Maria had the pork Michuacan tacos.
Mine were to die for! Tender, cooked to perfection, with a wonderful marinated flavor.
I was thrilled.
Unfortunately, her pork was so...

My wife and I had been wanting to try Amalia's for some time now, and finally stopped in for lunch. The decor was interesting, kind of dark and cozy and eclectic. The menu is fairly limited, but seemed enticing. Chips and two types of salsa came first - both were great. My wife had a quesadia stuffed with cheese, spinach...

A good happy hour--very nice small plates and good drinks at quite reasonable prices. Some unusual menu items for a Mexican restaurant, like the outstanding pork shank.

God, does some inspector come into Mexican places in the Northwest and say "Too spicy! Dull it down for sun starved NW patrons"? This one I had high hopes for. Decent decor, good location, but damn, the food is boring to death, underspiced, average in every way. So bummed! I have tried it twice, but am giving up.

Last time I was in they had a lunch menu including a number of $6 combos that included a free soda. Today, I went in to find the new menu. Guess what? No more inexpensive combos. The same Torta now costs $8...

A good portion of the menu were seafood entrees. I wanted a Mexican meal so ordered the chicken chimichanga. While good and plentiful, the chicken was a little tough.

We stopped into this restaurant and had the $6 lunch meal deal and it was great. The portions were generous and the food was good. We really enjoyed it. A lot of people seem to be saying it's not "mexican" but the place advertises itself as innovative and contemporary and I think it's fair to say that that isn't going...

Recently we paid another lunch time visit to Amalia's Mexican Restaurant in downtown Bend, Oregon. Although Bend has plenty of great Mexican restaurants, Amalia's is our favorite place to eat shredded chicken taquitos. The chicken is sauteed with chipotle and pasilla pepper and the taquitos are then topped with a fire-roasted tomatillo and Mexican cream sauce. We had them served...
