Went on Saturday. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The food was delicious and left you wanting more despite the good portions served. The food was pleasing to the eye and to the palate! The only irritating factor was that service fell short of excellence! It got slower and slower with each course.

We have been to Shakesbys several times and have enjoyed the food and the ambiance totally and if you have never tried blade of beef you are missing out and salt & pepper pear with Stilton ice cream is to die for. Ted Wheeler

We stumbled across Shakesby's one Saturday evening. We hadn't booked but they went out of their way to fit us in and make us feel welcome. The setting is lovely, the atmosphere is perfect and the food was absolutely delicious. We were pushed for time, so only had two courses - but what courses! The cream, pear and Stilton sauce... More

Everything about Shakesbys is worthy of five stars. The food, the atmosphere the service all first class. Menu has a good choice and the food was way beyond expectation. I had Pork Cheeks followed by Feather Blade Of Beef which was immense. There always seems to be plenty of staff that are very efficient without being pushy, so overall a... More

We visited Shakesby's after reading the good reviews on here. We weren't disappointed! We opted for the Early Bird menu, read up on it online and booked online too - all very easy! I went for Pea and Mint Soup - fresh, delicious, with crispy croutons on top and my partner went for Cauli and Stilton Soup - again tasted... More

Had a lovely meal with my Husband a couple of weeks ago! The king prawns to start, rump of lamb as a main and chocolate brownie to finish! Food was absolutely outstanding and service was great! 11/10!

Visited Shakesbys whilst on a weekend away in Horncastle. We booked for the "beat the clock" menu - it was lovely and without fault. The restaurant was cosy and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Such a shame we live too far away to return!

Think particularly their early bird menu is superb value. We went two evenings running, once later and once for the early bird - food was very good both times and the steak and ale pie exactly the same - very good. Beautifully presented. Very nice staff, pleasant atmosphere and cosy restaurant. Could be a bit warmer and toilet upstairs was... More
