Food very good standard better than we had previously had on our short trip. Would highly recommend as the chef definitely has some real skill and food tasted fantastic. Only let down was the creme brûlée but as restaurant is over 3,000 miles from france think the chef can be given a pass on that :) Overall very good

We stopped in Valladolid on our way back to Cancun from Chichen-Itza. We had planned to spend a little time exploring, but unfortunately our rental car broke down as soon as we got into town. We were having lots of trouble trying to contact the rental service with our cell phone and were quite frantic, and a gentleman at the... More

On the way from back from chichen itza to cancun, we decided to visit Valladolid. Other then expected, it looked more like a rustical place, so we gave up any hope to find a beautiful place to eat, when we saw a small entrance at the taberna de Los frailes. Situated right at the main square, next to the church,... More

Although it's on the higher end for Valladolid, the service and food are well worth it. We loved the Pook Chuuk and Tikin Xic, beautifully presented, delicious traditional Mayan dishes. The waiters were friendly and attentive. We didn't love the music selection, but you can't have everything!

Incredibly delicious, upscale, Mayan food. Get the grilled watermelon- I'm still dreaming about this. Such a unique culture- why isn't this food more popular?!? All very healthy, very fresh. Exotic fruits and veggies- The Chaya juice was so refreshing. The service impecable. The decor lovely.

On a recent trip to Chichen Itza we decided to spend the afternoon in Villadolid. I saw the reviews on Trip Advisor for Taberna de los Frailes and made a point to have lunch there. This restaurant has so much character and charm. The setting is so relaxing and comfortable but the food was incredible. The menu was filled with... More

This is a superb restaurant. The ambiance is lovely and the service gracious. Seated in a thatched room built according to ancient Mayan architecture, we enjoyed cuisine imbued with both Spanish Mexican and ancient Mayan influences. Vegetable, fruit and fish ingredients were all delightfully fresh and beautifully presented. Wonderful dishes were prepared with roasted pumpkin seeds, local chiles and ripe... More

As good as it gets for Yucatan cuisine. Long mescal list of rarities---all excellent. Beautiful garden setting with ex-convent across street.

I had a delicious octopus, my friend had great tacos, and we both had good drinks. You can sit outside on their beautiful patio and look at the Convent de San Bernardino de Siena while you eat.

Beautiful setting, easy to walk to from Casa Hama Guesthouse. Perhaps the finest dining in all of Valladolid.
