Vimala has pulled together a group of people to make food that tastes really delicous and is fresh while at the same time meeting social justice ideals. They are the most lovely people, and then the food is awesome on top of that. I've been three times, and twice I've met Vimala herself. She is completely charming and wonderful. The... More

A great combination of Asian and southern cooking -- pulled pork barbeque. The creativity in the menu and execution of food choices is impressive. Our first experience was in-restaurant dining which is informal and casual. Most recently we had Vimala cater an outside event which was equally delightful. Highly recommend for either way of enjoying these culinary treats.

Good food with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options . Vegetarian samosas and any or their special of the day are a must try. Leave room for dessert they are good too! Friendly staff.

Went here for a birthday dinner with about 15 folks. Arrived early, so went to the bar. They have good beer selections, although only 4 or 5 on tap. The rest in bottles. The Indian food tasted good, it's reasonably priced. They are accomodating to vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free. Service was pleasant and fast. The outdoor dining on this beautiful... More

I had a wonderful time at Vimala's Cafe today. We arrived early (15 mins before open), and were greeted, seated (even though its self-seating), and watered immediately. I work nomadically for a living, and have spent many a day in Indian establishments, some generic, some unique, some amazing. Vimala's hits the last two square on the head! Perfectly spiced, huge... My husband and I went with numerous colleagues to eat at this socially responsible restaurant. The Indian owner is known for giving a lot back to the Chapel Hill community. Both of us are huge lovers of Indian cuisine. We have had great Indian food in India, London, and Vancouver, BC. Upon numerous rave reviews, we decided to try out... More

As the title mentions it, if you are in the Raleigh area and love Goat Curry, make it a point to visit the place and try their curry. It was awesome - a little underspiced, but still really amazing. The chicken plate and veggie options are also quite good from what i heard from family and friends who were with... More

Good food, different from the typical Indian restaurant. They use fresh and local ingredients, and change their menu according to what is available seasonally. They recently opened a bar that stays open until late.

Good mid-range Indian food, especially curries (as the name suggests). Friendly atmosphere and efficient service. On the down side, the place needs something besides one unisex bathroom to accommodate a full complement of customers.

I personally know the owners and met them before they opened the restaurant. It has been wonderful watching the restaurant grow and expand. My favorite foods are the samosas and fried plantains but I have loved everything I have tasted! The venue is excellent and there is usually some form of live entertainment in the evenings. One year I had... More
