As we were close by we decided to give the Anglers a try, we knew we could get tea & coffee and if the food was OK we would stop for lunch, the issue being I have to eat gluten free food. We were greeted and on asking about gluten free options the barman went to check with chef, coming... More

We went here for a surprise birthday party for one of our family, I had been once before for a lunchtime meal, we were greeted and made to feel welcome. we found the staff pleasant and helpful. our party was adults and two children and we were pleased with the service. although there was some delay with some of the... This is the sort of place that gives eating out a bad name. Very poor quality food with long waits. Not particularly cheap either - like a downmarket Harvester. Waitress was pleasant and efficient though.

Not a bad place, but it gets very busy sometimes. Food and service is OK but not sparkling. Generally reliable though

Service is poor as is the quality of the food. Not a busy Friday Lunchtime yet orders not processed in sequence. Well Done order dispatched as rare to make up for lost order. The food is appalling. Cannot be recommended and recommend you consider staying away.

The Xmas menu was pretty good. Service was OK, a little slow and some errors but the food itself was pretty good. Decent selection of beers and wine with the bar being primarily for locals. Good location although the car park is pretty small and parking elsewhere limited.

Went here for lunch on 10/11/2012. On entering the resaurant, it was noticable that a female waitress did not acknowledge us on arrival. We were then shown to a table by a polite male waiter/barman which was near the fish tanks. He took our drinks order and soon returned with our drinks. We found that the chairs were too wide... More

Not a bad location opposite the hockey / cricket club. Bar is interesting but the food excellent! Nice outside area for the summer

We have eaten at a number of pubs in the Staines/Egham /Chertsey and you can find some fault with all of them. Taking in to account food quality/variety; service/ speed; ambience ; price etc then I would say the Anglers Retreat is above average. Although in a rather uninspiring suburban location, it has a nice atmosphere partly because most of... More

Enjoyed a lovely family meal here last night ( 6 adults ) read the reviews before I left, so I was a bit apprehensive, but what a pleasant surprise, very friendly atmosphere, only waited about 15 minutes for our order to come, delivered by a very friendly waitress, the food was delicious, the portions were huge and nicely cooked and...
