The place is cool, it has so much history, how could you not like it. We went there for breakfast, it was served and tasted OK. Mass food processing so not like it was made just for you. But, just being there was really great knowing who was served there before you. Everyone in the area should experence the institute... More

The oldest operating wooden hotel in the US, this is a great way to experience Chautauqua. Full American Plan, dress for dinner, reminds one of the old elegance.

Beautiful but I chose not to stay there because I could smell the mold. Needs better upkeep. Amenities are not equal to the high cost of the rooms. The only benefit to staying here is not having to go in and out of the gates for events

Full of atmosphere and history, this lovely, grand, old wooden building in the midst of the slightly surreal, cultural, educational, new agey intellectual Chautauqua Institution, would be fun to come to, even if the food wasn't good. But it is pretty good, though you have to have the four course dinner or nothing. Mind you, the portions are not large... More

Given the beautiful setting over looking Lake Chautauqua and the wonderful old hotel it is located in we were looking forward to a great meal. Unfortunately it was not to be had. The only menu option on the evening we were there was $60 prix fixe. A fair price for the quality and quantity of food we were served would... More

We went for Sunday brunch. We enjoyed seeing this well preserved and wonderful historical hotel. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the old porch just stunning. The brunch was extremely over priced. Food was less than mediocre and there was a marked lack of variety to the menu. We will never go back unless they change their approach and pricing.... More

When the 5 of us went to our reserved table #1 in the hugh dinning room and there was no one else in the room [5:30] I kind of knew we were in trouble. It went down hill from there! We then ask to be seated on the porch area to at least enjoy the view of the lake, and... More
