We stopped in for dinner and were amazed by the freshness and excellence of preparation in both of our dishes! The staff were friendly and efficient, the chef very accessible, and the selection of food and drinks were impressive. We can't wait to come back - and we might even take in one of the offered culinary classes!

New York wines are no longer a novelty item, inferior to California wines and certainly to European wines. The are award-winning products equal to many in the world and even the best in the world. Early on the Finger Lakes Wine Trail coordinated weekends with themes to attract visitors. Often the attraction was food family (cheeses, herbs, bread, for a... More

touring in the area and stopped again for lunch since our last visit was enjoyable. Not as impressed this time around. We visited mid-week and the Center had plenty of tables available in their Upstairs dining area. We were seated quickly and our server was friendly and helpful with menu selections. We both had the pasta with a short rib... More

We received a gift certificate for our wedding and went to two cooking classes here. One was on summer salads - interesting b/c we used different bases than just LETTUCE. We also met other participants and the instructor at the farmer's market another day; purchased ingredients; and went back to the facility to cook. (They provide the protein.) The facility... More

This is a very interesting place and definitely, THE place to go (in my opinion) if you are staying in or around Canandaigua. My husband and I went away this past weekend and had signed up for a cooking class at this facility. We had never attended one before, nor had we ever been to the restaurant. There is a... More

The food was very good. I had the pork chops ( 2) apple and sweet potato mash and Brussels sprouts all with an apple sauce. Very good! My husband had steak and fingerling potatoes. Again very good. Dessert was good. Price was very reasonable for the dinner! The service was however very good and the venue itself is beautiful! I... More

This was recommended by locals and was right across the parking lot from the Inn on the Lake. The Upstairs Bistro is an attractive room. The building also contains cooking classes and wine tasting. Being an early Monday evening, the room was almost empty. Service was terrific. The waitress suggested an appetizer platter for the table and it was fresh... More

Wonderful food in beautiful setting. Their steak is the best around. They add a special touch to everything they serve.

Our group made the short walk across the parking lot from The Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua to The Upstairs Bistro which is part of the New York Wine and Culinary Center. Everyone enjoyed salad or soup appetizers. Soup was either manhattan fish soup or butternut squash bisque. Both were excellent. Scallops were fantastic, lightly grilled and served over... More
