I grew up in the Bronx, frequently dining at the Pine Restaurant for many years. I had my daughter's Christening there three years ago, and a birthday dinner party for my mom last year. All of these experiences were fine. For Mother's Day this year, we decided to order the food from there and eat it at home. If I... More

For a generation this was the best place in the Bronx for a casual meal. Then they expanded & the only people who like the food are out of towners who have nothing to compare it to.The previosly great food is now substituted with tremendous portions of so-so food More

I used to go to this place 20 years ago when the place was fantastic. The red sauce was impeccable. The dishes were served with love. Unfortunately, not anymore. You'd never know it from the wait on Saturday night. I called ahead, said I would be there in 5 minutes, how long was the wait. "No wait," the woman who... More

This place has large servings that are good to share. My favorite is the penne al la vodka. More

I went 3 times in a year. 3 strikes and your out. First time ordered linguini pescatore the large one. $18, 3 clams, 3 shrimp filled with scungilli no mention of scungilli on menu. Catered second time. Zuppa de pesce large, hardley any shrimp crab legs so small and few. Should have known checked large antipasto before I left no... More

Went with a family group this weekend and was very impressed. Never went there before but heard buzz about it and wanted to try it. Was concerned it would be busy and there would be a long wait on a Friday night, but we sat down quickl (we did call about an hour ahead for a reservation since we had... More

Italian food is the specialty but everything seems first rate. Antipasto is fresh and well-served, wine selection is good (although the chianti was not the high point of the evening), and the pizza as an appetizer was extraordinary. Lamb chops were succulent, beautifully cooked - but there were 7 of them! At a price for which you might expect three... More

I don't know what has happened to The Pines. Perhaps some new cook or a change of the kitchen cooks has taken a turn for the worse. I have eated ther several times in the past 7 years and the place is not what it use to be. The waitress was poorly trained and served soup and ran off but... More
