We were told we had to stop at The Owl and get the GCCB (green chili cheeseburger), and we’re glad we listened. Very spicy, but we loved the awesome authentic old-time bar. It’s like it’s right out of a movie. More

The four of us arrived on a slow Monday evening. It was just what you'd hope for in a place known for one thing. Walk in the door of this roadhouse and take a second or two to adjust to the dimly lit interior as you're greeted by the woman behind the bar. Grab a booth and glance at the... More

Remember this is a bar and grill in a small town. Don't expect trendy food and stainless steel fixtures. The burgers are really good. The waitresses and staff are very friendly. This is a piece of Americana. There are probably bigger and better green chili cheeseburgers. Every bar and grill in New Mexico claims theirs is the best. The ones... More

We have always stopped at the Buckhorn Inn for lunch on route to Alburquerque .However we thought we should try the Owl across the street for a change. We were seated right away and order taken very quickly by a friendly lass. We were surprised how dark it was and could not see to read our magazines. The French Fries arrived... More

Mediocre to poor food, overpriced, not worth stopping. I looked forward to eating at this 'famous' place for years and was really disappointed. Burgers were small, fries really soggy, prices high on everything. There are some quite good restaurants in nearby Socorro; better to plan on dining there instead. More

Bland, small and overpriced. The negative reviews are correct. I think the positive reviews are owners and employees. Even Blake's makes a much better chile cheeseburger at half the price. And $2.95 for a small order of undercooked fries!!!! Please don't ignore the negative reviews. They are exactly correct! More

I have known and heard about their "world famous" Chile cheeseburger for years. I think it is famous in their minds only. The burger patty is average size but they put it on a small bun to make it look better than it actually is. The green chile has NO flavor or heat. Trust me.... the negative reviews are honest.... We are foodies. We seek out restaurants that specialize in fresh, local cuisines. The green chile cheeseburgers (I had mine without cheese) at the Owl Cafe were fantastic. Never tasted anything like it. We'll be back. More

We visited the Owl Cafe for the first time in March. I don't understand the hype. The burger was greasy and the bottom bun immediately became soaked through. You couldn't even pick up the burger it was fell apart from all the grease. Don't waste your time or money. More

This review did not give me a choice for my original visit in 1969; and many times shortly thereafter. The steaks and burgers were great. The big bar there is the original Conrad Hilton bar - who grew up there. I left in 1973 and the owner was murdered in a robbery behind the bar a couple of years later.... More
