On Sunday i took my mother, mother in law and girlfriend out to Franschhoek to celebrate mothers day! We arrived on an over cast day with a lit fire place downstairs and a complimentary glass of local MCC. Very good! The menu was 3 course and valued at less than 150 bucks, we had the option of a la carte... More

During a recent visit to the area I had meals at various restaurants but the one at Le Coq most definitely stood out as tops. The service was great but the food even better. More

if there was a franschhoek design award this massive space would win it. I spent a few minutes looking at the beautiful view and the interesting works of art. whilst it was a little quiet, i made a booking for dinner and was "allowed to bring kids" the first of a formal space in Franschhoek. We were sold The kiddies... More

We stayed in Franschoek for a week and so had the opportunity to dine at many of the restaurants in the area. We had not planned on dining at Le Coq. However, we noticed it as we walked by one morning because of the quite striking interior. We were curious enough to take a look at the menu and note... More

the restaurant with it's Dali and surreal photo of Dali in motion challenges the Staid Franschoek stereotype of serious French cuisine. It is in your face, good stuff great sushi and fish dishes and friendly staff at affordable prices. The owner was accused of going to open a Ocean Basket chain in Franschoek instead he smiles at the dream of Franschoek locked into... The menu had a vast selection to choose from and our server could not have been more attentive. The food, on the other hand, was a disaster. My friend and I ordered the burger which came with fries and onion rings all stone cold. My friends husband ordered a Tbone steak which he asked to be well done. It came... More

This is a new restaurant in Franschhoek but I will be suprised if it's still here next year. The waiters are lovely and very friendly and the manager appeared so. He took our order for food and I requested chips not roast potatoes with my roast chicken. He said that would be fine and he'd see to it. The dish... More

Oh, this restaurant is glorious. On a trip where every restaurant was great, it takes a lot to be *the* standout restaurant. And that's exactly what Le Coq is. We were warmly welcomed and sat outside in front of the restaurant, at a nice large table, with a view. We could see the comings and goings on the street, and... More
