The place was packed on a Saturday night but our server was gracious, and attentive. From the drinks to the salad to the steaks, all were delicious. This place is on the expensive side for the area but the dining experience was excellent. Noisy, but most places are these days.

This was the second time we have dined at Char's and in both instances, we have had enjoyable meals. I would classify this restaurant as being one of the best steakhouses in the area. Definitely a bit on the pricey side (our bill came to about $450, including tip, for a party of five with not much of a liquor... More

As a longtime NJ resident, I remember this restaurant as Aqua!!!It was always consistently excellent in the day and if it is at all possible to improve with quality and ambiance, they have hit a "home run" with Char!!!When you first walk in, your senses take over with a beautiful water sculpture, a wonderful bar/dining area which exceeds any NYC... Met at Char with colleagues for a business dinner. Agree with the comments on the dress of the hostesses...I expect more class in a central NJ steakhouse and not something to mimic a 3rd rate steakhouse in Vegas. We started with the fried calamari (under seasoned and greasy) and the Kobe meatball. For entree, I ordered a filet which was... More

Opened with oysters (East coast vs. West coast) and perfectly mixed martini, then had the Cowboy Ribeye expertly done and paired with a zinfandel. The wait staff was attentive (almost overly so) and did a great job of offering suggestions, getting the right wine, etc. Not a place to go with a bargain budget or picky children, but otherwise I... Went to this restaurant and was hoping for a good steak, but I was pleasantly surprised with one of the best steaks I have ever had. Perfectly cooked and extremely delicious. The waitstaff was attentive and we really enjoyed our meal. The salads were so fresh and the asparagus was well cooked. I would highly recommend this place. There are... More

We heard several times about this restaurant, even driven by multiple times and finally decided to give it a try last Friday for my wife's birthday. Sorry we waited so long because it was truly great. All courses were expertly paired and ordered by our Captain "Mariam". We left everything in her control after a brief discussion about likes, dislikes... More

I had dinner here about two weeks ago, our steaks were good but not great, we had the calamari as an appetizer and it wasn't very tasty, I've definitely had way better somewhere. The waiter brought a large bottle of sparkling water when I had clearly asked for a small one, he forgot our side dishes and didn't take away... More

great food but very slow service. The waiter might have been new. The cowbow Ribeye is by the far the best piece of meat.
