I recently gave Sweet Lula's a glowing review, but a visit last night was like being in a different restaurant entirely! We were a group of seven and when the reservation was made we asked that it be noted that this was for a pre-theatre dinner. We arrived at 6:15, plenty of time to make an 8:00pm curtain call at... My wife and I returned for an overdue visit. Our waitress (Sara - excellent!) recommended the seafood chowder, which was fantastic, much creamier and thicker than my expectations. My wife had the salmon and I had the always tasty crab cakes. The meals were great, and the service was terrific. The rice was cooked to perfection and the sliced carrots... More

Saturday night we made reservations for our first dining experience at Sweet Lula's. I had read the reviews, good and bad. Because we had show tickets for across the street at the Broadway Theater, we had an early dinner, and were surprised to see how many people were already seated there, eating. A line had formed at the entrance, while the... More

Nine of us went for dinner last month before going to a show at the Pitman Theatre. The first wonderful thing was that we were given a round table! I hate being placed at a long rectangular table because you can only talk to those beside and across from you, the round table allowed conversation to flow among all members... More

My wife and I visited Sweet Lula's recently. It was our first time there, and we didn't have a reservation. I felt like we were "scolded" for not having a reservation, but they got us a table anyway. The restaurant atmosphere was nice, but it was very loud. When Lula began to sing, it was hard to hold a conversation.... More

Our first time there, we showed up without reservations on a very busy Saturday night. Lula was at the front desk and could've easily turned us away but she went over the seating chart/reservation list and freed up a table for us. The staff was pleasant and efficient and the food was delicious. It's definitely worth a visit.

My wife and I ate here on a Saturday night, it was crowded but only waited a few minutes for our table to be ready near the window; luckily since if you sit closer to the "stage" it is very loud once Lula starts singing. She sang several songs during which we could not talk. It is basically a concert... More

My husband took me here for a nice birthday dinner. The place was very poorly run. No hostess. Only 3 waitresses on a saturday night, who also had to take turns answering the phone and seating guests. It was chaos to say the least. Our waitress opened our wine but didn't pour it. We asked for water and she dropped... More

Rude service all the way around. Not worth the money for the little amount of food, the food was not prepared articulately, and the terrible customer service makes this the worst place to eat in the tristate region. This was a special occasion for my family and the service was a complete disappointment to me. I would never recommend this... More

This was my 3rd visit to Lula's since they opened. I think after a few years they have perfected fine dining for the small town of Pitman. I had the salmon with capers which was outstanding. The rice was perfectly done as well as the veggies. As far as I can tell everything is homemade to order. Husband had the... More
