Had the excellent corned beef hash with eggs and my wife had a combo plate with the ridiculously good cinnamon swirl french toast and very tasty veggie sausage. My 6 and 8 year old sons each had a plate-size pancake -- one chocolate chip, one buttermilk -- and shared a plate of scrambled eggs, and then finished my wife's french... More

I have eaten here once a week for 22 weeks and can say that it is really the best for breakfast. The food is outstanding and creative. The ladies room could use a little more attention. More

No surprises here. They make a delicious breakfast. The highlight is the french toast, as everyone has been raving about. Thick, chewy and swirled with a heavy dose of cinnamon. It is worth the extra dollar or two on the combo plate. I usually don't order French Toast in breakfast joints, but this was too good to pass up. Get... More

I would have titled this review "the best French toast....," but that was used used just recently. But the Cinnamon Swirl French toast really was the best I can remember. Tucked away on Daniel Street not far from Prescott Park is a tiny place with the entrance tucked in the alley that is big on service and food. Prepared right,... More

We stopped by Colby's for Sunday brunch around 9 am. There was a small wait, but we had a party of 7 so we expected to wait a bit. It is indeed very small - maybe 12 tables at most. The food was amazing - the cinnamon swirl french toast was to die for and the egg specials were great.... More

We were recommended to Colby's during our stay in Portsmouth and weren't disappointed. Although it is a little place, and can get crowded quickly, we had a great experience. I ordered the Homemade Cinnamon Swirl French Toast and it was AMAZING. My husband ordered the Bacon Avacado Eggs Benedict and he said it was a unique flavor combination and he... More

My wife and I live about a hour from Portsmouth but we love nothing better than to get up early and go to Colby's on a Sunday morning. Their lox and eggs are yummy, their pancakes are amazing, and you can have a Bloody Mary, or a Mimosa with your breakfast. Be prepared for a wait (at least on Sunday)... More

Nice place to meet friends. It's not the Friendly Toast, but what is..Sometimes you just want a good egg or a couple of pancakes and it's a good place for that More

The breakfast is delicious and unique, but you can tell how popular this place is from the wait. However, the restaurant staff takes pity on its freezing patrons (we visited in January), and has a table with hot coffee, sugar, and cream outside. More
