Good Indian food in a college town, down a back street so less crowded than the main street places. Nice and quiet, even romantic if what you want is the chance to talk to each other.

I would recommend this place for indian food. Their food and service is awesome. I go there more than once a week. I am almost addicted to their food because it tastes wonderful people there are very kind.
Nowhere else within 60 miles probably to get Indian food, so if you must have it, get take out. But don't dare call before 4:30 pm or they will literally yell at you that they are on break and then hang up, even though the restaurant is open 11:30am-10pm.
Unpleasant at best service in the restaurant. I lived in India...

Wonderful curry - I get hungry just thinking about it. The service was great. I have not been there in a while. I'm already looking forward to the next time!
I cannot think of any other place to find good Indian food around Dartmouth. They really do well at the Jewel, vegetable samosas are good and cheep. Entre portions are reasonable. The restaurant itself has a true authentic feel to it. The owners seem really nice.
Although we were seated quickly, it took about 45 minutes to receive our entrees. Our suggestion: order soup and eat it slowly as you wait for your dinner. The food itself was delicious so we would go back (and order soup while we wait).
Considering that Indian restaurants are very hard to find in the entire Vermont and New Hampshire, this was a great find. I drove an hour just to have good Indian food here. Lunch buffet was good acceptable quality and the place is very homey with bunch of students from all nationalities (amazing diversity considering VT & NH being nearly 100%...

We eat at the Jewel frequently. The food is excellent, always hot and delicious. The restaurant is not fancy, but quite comfortable. They have outdoor seating in the summer. On-site parking is limited, but the parking garage is a block away and there is on-street parking close by as well. We heartily recommend it.
The service was a highlight and not in a good way. We were seated and given menus by someone from the kitchen who glowered at us. After a delay, a waiter arrived and started his shift. He was no more cheerful. Our vegetarian platter was delivered and was delicious, perfectly spiced and generous in portion size. While we were still...

We have been to Jewel of India several times over the past few years. The food is really good, especially the bread. Parking in the garage up the street has worked well an it gives you a chance to walk a bit after a very good meal! We would go out of our way to eat there again.
