Description: Opened in 1999, Restaurant Alma is a casual fine dining restaurant, offering eclectic American cuisine and warm hospitality in a rustic historically preserved building. A high, open beam ceiling, exposed brick columns and concrete floors display the original space, while an open kitchen, banquette seating and gentle lighting contribute to an intimate and contemporary feel. Alma is best known for sourcing the best quality seasonal ingredients available and features a high percentage of local and organic products. Our menu changes every six to eight weeks, offering both new and signature dishes. We feature both a three course tasting menu format, allowing the customer to select any three dishes from the menu for $48 and a la carte options. Alma has been awarded 4 stars by the StarTribune and shares the #1 food ranking in ZAGAT for Minneapolis/St. Paul

My wife and I recently were finally able to secure reservations on a Saturday night for Alma. It was refreshing to go to a restaurant that puts the emphasis on the food. We had the three course menu and for the main I had the duck with rhubarb and it was a wonderful combo. If you are looking for a... More

We recently went to dinner at Restaurant Alma for my wife's birthday. We had some good friends attend the evening with us. This is a GEM of a restaurant in NE Minneapolis. This is my third time to the restaurant, we are foodies, and we were not disappointed! They have a 3 course tasting menu with a flat price of... More

This restaurant has a great tasting menu in a very unpretentious setting. It is central, but off the downtown core, so easier to get to even during rush hour, with free street parking! Portions are smallish, but with the 3 course tasting menu, it is plenty of food. Toughest choice was what to omit. Even had choices for a vegetarian... More

For a special occasion (since it's a bit pricy) or a simple night out, this is a favorite. The menu is set as a three-course tasting menu with a flat price, so it's easy to try a couple of things. Everything on the menu is just spectactular. I really like the small size of the restaurant and the casual, yet... More

I have been to this place several times, and they never cease to impress me with their food. The make their own bread - the rye bread is to die for -- and it is delicious. My wife and I ordered the tasting menu. I loved the duck and the rabbit. The seem to make food that just flows to... More

Some fantastic, local area food. One of our favorites in the downtown Minneapolis area – especially before the Guthrie. We always get thier 3 course tasing menu ($50). We have been here numerous times and have never been disappointed. The menu changes frequently, so there is always something different to try. Some excellent choices we have had included cucumber soup,... More

Dined at Alma on Friday evening. I found the experience to be slightly better than torture. Arrived five minutes before our 7:45 reservation. Was told to sit at the bar until our table was ready although the table we were sat at was empty when we arrived. Placing us at the bar of course was their way of extracting more... More

My husband and I had been planning an early "Valentine's Day" date for weeks, since we knew he'd be travelling for work over the actual holiday. He chose Restaurant Alma and then got immediately, cripplingly ill the moment we had ordered! Despite this, we actually enjoyed an incredible meal. You can read his whole review about the experience, with photos,... More

Restaurant Alma is one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis for a date night or dinner with special friends. I love their three course tasting menu and find the proportions to be the perfect size to share tastes and still be satisfied at the end of the meal. I took two friends a few weeks ago as a "thank you"... More
