The Red Coat burger is THE best burger anywhere. And, made with Piedmontese beef, it is low in fat but very juicy. Mt. Vernon and clam chowder are other favorites, not to mention the onion rings.

Everyone raves about the burgers; but I found them just average for taste. Yes, they are big with lots of toppings, but the meat was not as flavorful and other top notch burgers. Service was slow and most times you have to wait for a table.

Stopped by for quick Friday night burger and onion rings. It was pretty good. We were able to get a table right away, which was a pleasant surprise. Service was very good. Red Coat Burgers are fantastic. Everything on the menu is good. Royal Oak is a dark, pub atmosphere. West Bloomfield is lighter and brighter, and more upscale. Try the french fries with the white dipping sauce!

Red Coat Tavern has the best burger around, hands down. The rest of the menu is good, too if you are not in the mood. Get the Piedmont. Get the onion rings. I do not order onion rings anywhere but there. Pricey. Yes.

Don't be intimidated by the crowd. It's well worth the wait. Be sure to order the Piedmont beef. One of the best burgers I have ever had.
