We live in Metro Detroit and have relatives in Indianapolis and frequently travel between the two cities. Several times we've passed a small sign trying to lure I-69 motorists to exit and visit a place called Joe's Gizzard City. The exit is just south of Lansing at Potterville, Michigan. The other day we finally took the bait.
We dined here...

Joe's Gizzard City is one place you have to try for the most delicious gizzards you are ever going to eat! They are pressure cooked...marinated, seasoned and deep fried to deliciousness! We also had the veggie sampler...deep fried asparagus, corn nuggets, green beans and spicy onion scoops. Their fried chicken look great...must go back to try that.

I had visited Joe's Gizzard City several years ago, as my mother loved the fried chicken gizzards. It was a fun family restaurant and bar with a tasty fried food menu. After attending a local sports event with family we decided to go to Joe's. My first bite of the crispy-looking, golden fried gizzard flooded my mouth with the taste...

I went with my wife because we saw this place on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on food network. We went for lunch in the middle of the week and there were only a few people there. The waitress recommended the Potterville poutine, which was essentially brown meat with gravy and sour cream over fries and it was excellent. There was...

my fiance and I stopped by here because it was on Diners, Drive ins and Dives. Well, it was on that show and my fiance ordered the DDD Burger, which she was only able to eat a few bites of because it was entirely too bogged down in grease and batter. Myself, I ordered the giant fish sandwich and it...

It was about an hour drive for us so I was hoping it was going to be worth it. Sadly I was mistaken. The gizzards were very good but heavily breaded, not alot of taste other than the breading. They use the same heavy breading on everything. My wife had a chicken dinner that was so heavily breaded she was...

well, what to say. we follow guy's book to find the dives, dinners and drive-ins and this was in the book. the atmosphere is exactally what you expect for a dive---and everyone from suits to tattooed cyclist. the place was full of locals-always a good sign. people were happy. service was friendly and helpful. the owner, joe, was the most...

The gizzards were extremely tender, but did not have any gizzard taste. I had to bite them in half to make sure there was actually meat inside the breading as it had no chickeny taste. My one piece of chicken looked as if it had been triple dipped in batter. It was brown on outside, but thick and heavy, half-inch...

Not nearly as good as I had hoped for. The gizzards were indeed "melt" in your mouth... which for me was a bad thing... they should be a little chewy, but not tough. These were just mushy. And you could taste the grease... Certainly this place did not live up to the hype of Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins
