Yama always has fresh fish and a great selection of unique sushi rolls. Priced very reasonably as well. It's also BYOB, so bring your favorite bottle of wine or beer.
Yes indeed, the Jodie Roll which is a sushi with tuna, eel, tempura flakes and a special spicy sauce is mouth watering. The tempura was very lightly battered, perfectly done and delicious too. I would not recommend the udon noodle soups though. Nice friendly service too, in short a very satisfying lunch.
We eat here or get take-out food frequently. The food is consistently good. We like the Bento Box special, which includes miso soup, salad, sushi or sashimi, a teriyaki dish, and a tempura dish. They have a wide selection of delicious sushi. The service is good. And they are conveniently located on Route 16 near the intersection with Route 9.... More
I don't know why, but I do not feel right in this restaurant. Everything - the food, service and decorations seem to be artificial, almost like made from plastic. I do not want to make any harm, it is just my personal feeling. In some places you feel great, here like in Tokyo movie studio. Nothing seems to be real.... More
Yama is great for sushi, but you know that already from the other reviewers. Apart from sushi Yama offers a first class range of Japanese dishes. Their Beef Teriyaki is delicious and better than in most other Japanese restaurants. The service is friendly and professional. Indeed you have to bring your own bottle. I recommend Sake or Poully Fumee. Some... More
Before getting to the food, let me say that Yama has no liquor license, so you must bring your own. The sushi would have been much better with some sake or a decent white wine. Yama offers the epitome of a very good restaurant. It offers a nice range of dishes, starting with the typical gyoza (6) running to the... More
Yama is the best sushi restaurant you are going to get west of Boston that is not in a different category in respect to cost. There are many admirable places in Wellesley and Newton and Brookline, but Yama really does seem to stack up as one of the best places to get some raw fish in the suburbs.
I love sushi and Yama in Wellesley is consistently fresh and delicious. A traditional decor Yama serves much more than sushi and also has the more standard Japanese fare including sukiyaki, and teriyaki type entres. There is an area to sit floor style as well as typical table settings. It is great for families, couples, and lunches.
We went to Yama Japanese Restaurant tonight for the first time. In spite of being very busy both in house and with take outs we were seated and served promptly. The service was fantastic, the food also fantastic. Very fresh and perfectly cooked :D We ordered the Bento box and there was more food than we could handle. I'd definitely... More
