Having just returned from a vacation in New Orleans, I wanted to serve some friends a sandwich called a "muffaletta" - originated and very popular in New Orleans. A proper muffaletta is served on a particular type of italian bread - a 10 inch round, flat loaf with sesame seeds. I contacted Virgilio's by phone and spoke with Joe, who,... More

Never a bad sandwich, loaf of bread, slice of pizza or dessert! This is always a stop when I visit home!

Thought this place might be good and a place where the locals go. It was indeed good just a long wait. That being said, there was a street fair going on and I looked around thinking it must be good because it was warm out and everybody in there looked like they knew this place was worth the wait. My... More

We got a loaf of bread and a cannoli (every day) both were awesome. We have ate there several times over this year always great. We eat at the Rhumb Line and they have a great steak sandwich served on a Virgilio's roll.

We decided to check out Virgillio's based on the rave reviews on tripadvisor, and I have to say my boyfriend and I were both disappointed at the food. We ordered the Virgillio's special sandwich on a roll with bologna, two types of salami and ham, and were suprised when we were served what looked like just any other sandwich -... More

My husband and I were in Cape Ann last weekend for a wedding. While exploring this wonderful town, we happened upon Virgilio's by accident but boy did we hit the jackpot! Just entering the door, I was overwhelmed by the wonderful smells of the fresh bread. We ordered the St. Joseph sandwich as well as one of the most popular... More

I love going to Virgilio's and grabbing a sandwich before heading to Good Harbour beach. They keep for a good while wrapped in their tin-foil package and always seem to satisfy even the sea-air hunger. My favourite is the eggplant special.... yummy gooey cheesy goodness in a roll! Happiness is.

My husband and I were visiting Gloucester for the first time, and stopped in to grab a bite for lunch. We split the most delicious steak sub we have ever had, and that is saying alot, since we have lots of Italian delis where we come from. It was perfect in every way, the bread was fantastic, but it was... More
