My wife and I stopped in 555 for drinks and desserts. The desserts are fantastic, the place has a very nice atmosphere, and the bartender is a consummate professional.
Servings small, taste average and noisy yet expensive
We dined at Five Fifty-Five recently and came away thinking that it was above average, but maybe not quite as good as the hype. That said, we will return. The ambiance in the restaurant is very nice. The decor is tasteful and all of the brick and copper give it a warm, pleasant feel. There is surprising amount of seating... More
My husband, our two friends and I visited 555 on the strength of the reviews and found it lacking. It was okay. It was not excellent. The waitress was attentive and efficient, but where is it written that the wait staff must give a sort of performance of the items on the menu all so very dramatic and impersonal. My... More
From the restaurant ambiance, to the fantastic menu, to the awesome waiter, every detail of our meal was top notch. I chose the scallop entree, which may have been as close to perfect as any meal I have ever had. My partner chose the tasting menu, and each of his five courses were without a single flaw -- in fact... More
I'm a tough customer, but this meal is in my top 5 ever. The following were outstanding: lobster mac, beef carpacio, cheese course, onion soup and scallops. Watching them make it is half the fun. 10 stars!
My two trips to 555 have been excellent. From the timely and gracious attention of our waiter, I think his name was Neil, to the perfectly seasoned food, to the out-of-this-world lobster Mac and cheese.. And them came the cholate sampler! The architecture is lovely; I do think it felt a bit drab inside however during my one daytime visit.
One of the most appealing aspects of 555 is not just the food, which is uniformly excellent, (especially the lobster mac and cheese, which had substantial shaved truffles, not just hints or truffle oil, and real chunks of lobster), but the architectural aspects. The main dining room has a charming balcony where one can sit on request for a more... More
For a saturday night during restaurant week it wasnt too crazy. The bar was too crowded to wait so we went across the street for a drink. If you like Top Chef you will feel like you are eating on the show! Everything we ordered was great. The only downside is that I didnt love the location, not near the... More
I'm not picky, but i do have high expectations and this place really exceeded every one of them. When i made our reservation, i mentioned my daughter has a pine nut allergy. When we arrived, the hostess referenced it and our waiter referenced it right off the bat. Really impressed me. The food was excellent, service exceptional (kudos to Neil... More
