We routinely go to the Kennebec Tavern when we come through Bath from Reid State Park and Popham Beach because it's pleasant to sit by the river in Kennebec Tavern's spacious dining room (separate from the bar). The Tavern has grown over the years and now has a function room and more dock space. We have never had a bad... More

Stopped by three times this Spring. We love to sit at the Bar and be entertained by Charlie and his "regulars". Lately we have been ordering the Hell's Gate Haddock Sandwich which is broiled and nicely spicy. Great fun to sit right by the mighty river, especially as the weather warms.

The food was quite good and service was excellent. We went early in the evening with a two year old and he was treated well.

This could be such a lovely dining spot. The restaurant is set right on the edge of the Kennebec River, with access to fresh and delicious Maine seafood. Sadly, the food preparation and presentation are barely mediocre. Service is good, but can't make up for the lack of care and attention to the overpriced food and drinks.

We ended up trying this place for our first time with some friends. We only did because it was a Saturday night and we had to get in somewhere and eat because we had a show to get to by 9pm. They was no wait because there were serveral tables open. There were maybe 3 tables taken. We met our... More

Although our server was very good, he couldn't fix the chef's (using the term generously) lack of talent. The haddock dish ordered looked like the tomato, mushroom, scallion topping had been thrown on top, and the flavors conflicted; blueberry pie dessert had old whipped cream falling off the side of the slice because it had lost its "air." We were... More

Inconsistent - In the summer, food great, in the winter not good and terrible service. The view is very pretty. But they have become complacent if you ask me. They often have people playing music which is nice

Try the rice-battered calamari and lobster stew - excellent! Service was friendly and the ambience was warm and inviting.

We enjoy this restaurant most in the summer when the deck is open for seaside dining. Some may argue that it is overpriced. But the food is generally very good and the scenery on the Kennebec River well worth the extra few dollars.

This was a great location, we walked from the hotel we stayed at. We had our meal overlooking a nice view of the Kennebec River. The waitress was friendly. Food was very good, chicken sandwich and a cheeseburger.
