This is an authentic Mexican restaurant that is very close to the University of Notre Dame. The service is great and so is the food. Very authentic. My husband is a big fan of the carnitas, and I like the fajitas. For some reason, I've never tried any drinks here, but I do know they're available. If you're visiting Notre... More

I'm not an expert on Mexican food, but I think of the food at La Esperanza as "home cooked" Mexican. Everything was fresh and delicious. The staff is patient with the undecisive and always ready with a smile. I like a restaurant at which children are made welcome, and La Esperanza gave me the impression that they like families. Great... More

South Bend and its outlying area has dozens if not a hundred Mexican restaurants. They range from awful—Fiesta Tapatia, to barely recognizable as Mexican—Hacienda, to excellent—La Esperanza. The restaurant can be a little hard to spot as you are driving down busy, cluttered Ironwood Dr. and if they are really busy you may have to park in the lot next... More

The atmoshphere, food and service are very good at both locations. Enchiladas, burritos and carne asada are my favorites.

The food here is authentic and very good. I love the seafood burito and there refried beans are the best. Delicious salsa and guac .too.

The prices are great, and the food is yummy! My favorite part is always the chips and salsa, and they did not disappoint. The chips were warm and the salsa had just enough of a kick. I had a steak with onions and avocado, that was very tasty and the rice was great too. If you really want to save... More

Everything is great here from the tortilla chips and salsa to the entrees. I have been coming to La Esperanza for years. I grew up in a mixed Polish and Mexican neighborhood and know authentic Mexican. This place is the real deal.

La Esperanza has great food at great prices. The service is always fantastic. Good lunch spot or for dinner, and location is nice and away from the crammed Grape Rd area.

We picked the restaurant because of reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and for once they weren't as kind to us! On arrival we were left hanging around for ages before being taken to our table, the guacamole as someone noted was extremely runny, not bad tasting but not the best or even close to the best I've ever tasted.... I tried the Coctel Camaron, expecting the usual lettuce laden shrimp cocktail. It was a meal in itself. ABUNDANT Shrimp in a delicate tomato base sauce with tiny onion pieces and cilantro. We asked for spoons because the sauce was so taste sensational. We also ordered the array of dips for appetizers, especially liked the Chorizo/cheese dip and will ask... More
