Can't get as excited as other reviewers. Not much ambiance, although not uncommon in Oriental restaurants. Jean, the owner, was friendly and helpful when ordering, but hovered as we tried to enjoy a wine and appetizer. Didn't eat anywhere else in South Bend on this trip, but can't imagine this is number one. Food was good, but not outstanding.

Loved the owner. Just like others said, she sat down with us and helped us come up with our order. Charming! The food was great and reasonably priced. We will be going back again and again when we visit our son!

Great menu, and freshly prepared dishes. The owner is absolutely sweet, and she sits with you and finds your likes and dislikes. Easily one of the best Asian places I've EVER eaten in, and I've been around.... Highly recommended.

Best Asian cuisine I have had in a very, very long time. Jean, the very charming and gracious owner, will sit at your table and ask what kind of food you typically order and she makes suggestions accordingly. I would HIGHLY recommend the potstickers and the mu shu rolls! Handmade and delicious.

Very good restaurant! Food was great and the owner came to our table and had a very good conversation with us. She tailored our order very specifically and it was phenomenal. You're missing out if you don't make eating at J.W. Chen's a top priority.
