Description: Niche opened in August of 2006 with the goal of creating the best possible dining experience. We provide quality food, wine and service in an elegant, yet comfortable setting. Chef Serena Perdue creates American Contemporary cuisine influenced by her traditional French training. She believes that good food takes time, and great food takes work. Niche fosters relationships with local growers and suppliers in order to highlight the freshest Midwestern produce and products. General Manager and Wine Director Vince Balistreri has created an award winning all-American wine list featuring mostly limited production, boutique and cult wines that highlight the best American has to offer. Niche Restaurant was recently rewarded the prestigious "Award of Excellence" from Wine Spectator magazine in 2010. While food and wine are the focal points of the Niche dining experience, we also strive to give our guests flawless service. Our servers are knowledgeable, accommodating, and genuine.

Since the first couple of visits, some changes have been made; and our recent meal was excellent. The dishes showed imagination, creativity, originality and fine taste! The service was impeccable---attentive, patient, helpful. Therefore, I have raised my rating to 5 stars! The room is refined, soberly and tastefully furnished, and sound levels are low.

This restaurant tries hard to be a serious gourmet establishment and falls short. The sauces overpower the ingredients and it's a bit too pretentious. They offer gin and tonics with "homemade tonic" and when I asked the waiter how they make their own tonic he said, "We use a sodastream" I have one of those at home and you basically... More

We had a gift certificate for Niche, and frankly, we were worried. We love good food. But we are not adventurous, urban diners. We are traditionalists. And a perusal of the reviews, coupled with a viewing of the online menu, made us very nervous indeed. Well, we were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was warm. The service was very friendly and... The food is consistently amazing and the service is impeccable. The price is in line for the quality of food and service. It is a fantastic date night restaurant without the kids!

We had some of the best dishes here. Totally surprised us, being from the Chicago dining scene. The veal medallion entree is something you'd eat in heaven. Be sure to positively get the Praline Bar for a chocolate decadence dessert. Wine pours are too small at 1/4 of a glass, however. (Don't fall for the bottle upsell.)

After reading the menu on their website we made a reservation...and we were NOT disappointed. Don't park in the Post Office lot immediately next door; there is ample parking around the corner on the right. Modern decor, seats around 40 with a few tables in the bar area, Niche delivers service and an interesting, unique cuisine. Intrigued by the Foie... More

Niche has been our favorite local dining spot for years. An offspring of 302 West, Niche maintained many of the touches brought to the community by Joel Finley. After Joel's untimely death from cancer, the remaining staff and investors opened Niche. The quality of food and service continued. At Niche, you'll find an impressive array of wines, interesting cocktails like... More

My partner and I go to Geneva, IL, twice a year. We were referred to the Niche restaurant by our hotel (Hampton Inn) last March. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. I have since seen some negative reviews on this site. However, I don't agree with any of them. We went again this August, and everything was EXCELLENT.

Overpriced tiny food, atmosphere is nice but lacks the warm and inviting feeling everyone want from a restaurant.
