Quality here has gone down. There's a better place nearby for Cuban food (Caribe NW 7 Street and 40 Ave). I still love the fries here and some of the specials are pretty good.

The Morro (sp?) (black beans and rice) and plantains were very good. Nothing fancy and service was good. My husband had a beef dish that he did not like very much and I had fried chicken (Cuban style in chunks). I think we just did not pick the right things from the menu. Should have had the croquettes that the...

One secret of sauteed liver with green pepper, onion, and garlic is to cook it briefly and take it from skillet to table as quickly as possible. Islas Canarias overcooks it to dry, tough, tasteless chunks that are difficult to swallow. The online menu does not feature this dish, and the restaurant menu should also eliminate it.
Take it from me I'm Cuban and I can cook! The food here is excellent, the service is nice and the price is right!
Enjoyed our visit, but service was a little slow and the food was served warm not hot. Cuban coffee was delicious as were the croquettes, but probably wouldn't go back. Friendly staff though.
Islas Canarias by far has the best CROQUETAS in town. . . They are as close as homemade can get. They just melt in your mouth. Nothing like a cafe con leche, Cuban bread toast and some CROQUETAS for breakfast. Worth the trip just for the ham CROQUETAS.
Service and food is always good. They have a couple of locations but we usually go to the one on 26th St. which has more tables than their location near Little Havana.
Totally local, extensive menu: sit down, to-go, drive thru, they do it all...and so well. My husband thought it looked like a dive at first glance but we sat down to eat because I read good reviews. We don't speak spanish and don't get to enjoy Cuban very often in Michigan but we enjoyed it in Miami. The place was...

This excellent Cuban Restaurant with wonderful service is located way out west on Coral Way. It is well worth the drive. The food is highly quality cuban and the service top notch. Although located on an end cap in a strip center the restaurant is quite charming and seems to be well received by locals. I enjoyed a great business...

Family of five - we enjoyed our meal. I don't eat Cuban very often, so to be fair, I don't have a lot to compare this too. However, I do travel quite a bit and have a lot of experience trying new and less familiar cuisines...and while our meal here was OK, it wasn't thru the roof awesome like other...
