Service was friendly and attentive but slow for a Monday night. Sushi was good, but I was not blown away by the food.
Over the years I have eaten in a number of good Japanese restaurants. Dining in one of these is a matter of both good ethnic food and special atmosphere. Neither was present here. The venue was only slightly Japanese in nature and the tables are closely spaced and the noise level is too high for a pleasant dinner.

Somehow this restaurant got a 27 from zagat - do not understand that rating. Very average - fish not that fresh.
We had a very nice experience at Gary Chu's Japanese restaurant. Food was superb, and with Gary, himself, behind the bar it was enjoyable as well. Nice wine list, atmosphere, and plenty of parking. The Utah Roll was excellent, and other dishes were nice as well. We will go back the next time we want a sushi experience.
and now they are selling the sauce for them in a bottle! It is amazing and wonderful how they get them crisp, and not over done with the sauce that you want to lick off everything so it does not go to waste! Oh,, and the carburetor roll is one of the best I have ever had.. loaded with crab...

Although Gary is Chinese he does a fantastic job preparing good Japanese food. His blend of Asian fusion with Japanese flair is outstanding. Bring extra cash as their prices are hefty. Portions are small but presentation is excellent. Pretty good sake selections.
Gary Chu also has a Chinese restaurant in town and both are excellent. What I like about Osake are the interesting items on the menu like the broiled lamb chops (tiny lamb chops, perfectly cooked) and the martini prawns served in a martini glass with a delicious sauce. There's a wide selection of sake, too.
I really liked the chef's choice sashimi. One person in our party had a platter of assorted seafood sushi which was not that good. It was comped.
I very much enjoy Japanese food so my wife and I tried this place recently. The food was good, if you try a bit Japanese food is not that difficult to get right but there prices are very high. Admittedly the atmosphere is that of a nice restaurant but plan on at least $25/person without drinks. With alittle looking one...
