Some friends and I visited Rabalais Bistro right on Main Street in Santa Paula yesterday. We were there at lunch time, and enjoyed ourselves very much. The setting is terrific--clean, well decorated, with a bit of a New Orleans feel. The service was great--very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. She even brought us the printed story of how the restaurant came... More

Went to Rabalais Bistro for the third time. A little disappointed. Probably will not be back for a while. Wife had the Croque Provincial which she thought was very good. I had the Fried Catfish Po' Boy. The latter was good, but the roll on which the fish was served was way too thick. It was mostly bread with some... More

Great Cajun food and super friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Try the jambalaya. It is really good. The beet salad and French onion soup were very good as well.

Santa Paula is no longer missing a nice restaurant with outdoor tables, beautifully restored interior, iced tea and pastries, and even a piano that a local was playing the last time I visited. The beignets are huge. They have pleasant servers, and fresh brewed sweet tea and regular iced tea-my favorite. I stop by often, use their free wi-fi and... More

We arrived before the 5pm so we had to settle for lunch menu. I had Jambalaya and my wife ordered an open face sandwich followed by their famous Beignets, it was delicious. The New Orleans feel along with the old black and white family pictures on the wall gave the place a sophisticated "down home" feel. We'll be back. Can't... More

I miss my hometown New Orleans food something fierce, so even tho it is 23 miles from our home, I wanted to try this restaurant. Especially when I read that the owner was from New Orleans and the recipes were from her Cajun Grandmother. We ordered an assortment of dishes from the menu to sample as much as we could.... More

I expected a lot. I mean a lot. I've heard a ton about robalais from family and friends in the area, and I was not disappointed. The service was really good and the food served was delicious. Has a good environment. If you don't like home style southern food/some Cajun, you might not like this spot. It was delicious and... More

Our waitress Katie was awesome and very accommodating regarding a food prep issue, the food was excellent (go for the catfish), the building lovely, you aren't crammed in like sardines, the beignets were especially good - we couldn't be more pleased. The bistro also has a bakery part - earlier in the day we stopped there and had some particularly... More

We only had a chance to sample the beignets as they were closing when we arrived. The beignets were freshly baked, but were not as moist as I like and only had powdered sugar to sweeten the flavor. I am not a purist and would have prefered some jam as well.

Sorry to hear that our beignets didn't meet your expectations. If we get a chance to serve you again, jam is always available for the asking. More
